  1. FactoryTalk to PV+ 600

It's nice having a resource for the right answers. I also have an issue with an older version of FT me. Using the \Rockwell Software\RSViewME\Runtime" method Ken mentioned I was able to upload the mer file. I think the AB literature has a different file structure that doesn't work. The PV communicates with the SLC500 just fine. Question: Is there a way to move the mer file to the internal storage, or do we need to send the SD card with it? Thanks in advance!
  2. SLC500 5/03 with Ethernet

    Thanks Mickey!
  3. SLC500 5/03 with Ethernet

The only processor that is Ethernet capable is the 5/05?
  4. Normally we have used the SLC500 5/05 which already has Ethernet capabilities. To reduce cost our customer has requested we use the 5/03 processor while remaining Ethernet capable. From what I understand we can add the 1747-AENTR Module to add the Ethernet to the system. Is this correct? Or is there a better way? Thank you in advance for your replies!!
  5. I though that I found AB literature showing how set up messaging between a PLC-5 and a Micrologix 1400. It had a 1785-ENET module. Now I can't find it. If someone would lead me in the right direction on how to get these guys to talk, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  6. In the past we have always used relays to activate a solenoid valve. (Rather than directly powering the solenoid thru the PLC relay output) Solenoid valves are 115 volt AC with .054 holding amps and .082 inrush amps. In the real world could these be powered directly thu the AB 1762-OW8 output without any problems? What other things could we do to ensure the output module functions properly as designed? Thanks in advance!
  7. ML1400 with HSC?

Thanks Ken Kind of figured the 1769 was for the ML1500, really no reason for it. We are using the Blu-White FCXX10AT Flow sensor. http://www.bluwhite.com/Products/ElectronicFlow/digiFloSensor/SensorProduct.asp and Red Lion ARCJ-1AZO C-Face Adapter (Speed) . http://www.redlion.net/Products/DigitalandAnalog/Sensors/MotorsGears/ARCJ.html I see that there is a HSC Command but in my Starter version and older RS 500 (7.00 build 19) they are grayed out. What version is required to get that function? (How much money to I have to spend? lol.)
  8. We are using a ML1400 (1766-L32BWA) with an Ethernet connection. We have 2 sensors which are Hall Effect Speed Sensors. Can we add the 1769-HSC (High speed counter) ? Or do we need to get the ML1500 and then add the 1761-NET-ENI Ethernet module ? Or is there a better way ? Thanks in advance !
  9. ML1400 ommunications

Thanks Ken I'll get with the customer next week to find out the modem details. It's so remote there, cell service is not available. How do I set up RSLinx to communicate with the modem? Remote Devices via Linx gateway? TW...the ML1400 was the reason we bought the Micro. Our other RS500 didn't include the 1400
  10. We have a ML1400 and Panelview runing on ethernet. Software is RSLogix Micro starter 8.10.00 build 24 RSLinx Classic Lite 2.55.00.16 CPR 9 SR2 Factory Talk View Studio- ME 5.10.00 CPR 9 SR2 Customer has a phone line and modem which connects to the PLC/HMI ethernet network. We have been requested to make changes to the PLC and HMI. He's a plane trip away. Is there a way we can remotely connect to the system, and download the 2 programs? Thanks in Advance!!!
  11. Thanks b_carlton, you guys are great. On a separate note, with a total flow calculation (220,000 gallons) if I use a number greater than 32,767 will I fault the processsor? What is the largest number I can use?
  12. We have the ML1400 with a Panelview 600 plus. Factory tallk View Studio ME (5.10.00 CPR9 SR 2) is used to program the HMI. Ethernet communications are used. We're trying to input a setpoint (0-1400) for a PID setpoint. The numeric input (N7:50) goes directly into a SCP command which in turn scales it for the PID. N7:50 is only used for that function. Nowhere else is it used in the program. The SCP command scales 0-1400 to 0-16,383 to N7:52. Which in turn is moved into the PID setpoint. On the HMI Numeric input enable (numeric tab) we set: Numeric popup to key pad Mimimum Value to 0 Maximum Value to 1400 Decimial point to implicit Problem: When you hit the popup keyboard it shows a vailid range of 0-1400 . But when you input a value higher than 100 we get: 1) value inputed turns red. 2) Popup error displays "failed to write out of range value of 1200 to tag TEST_FLOW. Valid range is 0-100." A value less than 101 works fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
  13. RS Linx 2.52 & 2.54 & ML1400

Finally received the new Factory talk (5.10) and all is well. It only took more money. Thanks PM. Can anyone verify if the ML1400 will "talk to" (messaging) to a compactLogix L32E? I think it will. Thanks in advance!
  14. I have a headache... On one computer we have RSlinx 2.52.00.17 and Factory talk view studio (ME) 5.00.00 CPR 9, build 55. This computer is used for the HMI programming. It also has an older version of RSlogix 500, pre ML 1400. Factory talk sees the PLC..........correct IP address, 1766-L32EBWA A/5.00............without the PLC name (see below). With the RSlinx it sees the ML1400 as an unrecognized device with the correct IP address. I tried the upload EDS file from device, which it does and says its a ML1400. I deleted the harmony files and restarted. I maybe D/L the file to the wrong (default) location. No luck. Since it's my understanding RSLogix500 and RSlogix Micro starter can't be on the same computer, they aren't. The RSlogix Micro program and RSlinx 2.54.00.11 are on a different computer. They see the PLC fine. (with the computer name for the device shortcut need for the HMI.) These use the newer internet based activation. The older machine uses the older node locked activation. 1) Is the older RSlinx the problem with seeing the ML1400? or is there another way around this to get the short cuts into the factory talk view studio -ME software.? ( I can D/L the sceens just fine, without the "connections") 2) If I take the factory talk view over to the other computer, will the activations conflict? Is this the best route ? basically abandon the RSLogix500. 3) Or is somethine else wrong? 4) Lastly will the ML1400 "talk to" (messaging) to a compactLogix L32E? I think it will. Thanks in advance!!!!!! I'm going to de stress for a while.......
  15. I know it's here somewhere but can't find it. We have the PV 600+ with the 1769-L32E Processr. Along with Factory Talk View Studio- Machine Edition. The PLC program and PV program are loaded in and work fine. When the PV starts up it goes to the config screen by default. Then you have to "run" the program. I have hidden a goto configuration button which will go to the same place. How do I (upon startup) have the PV run the mer file already loaded in? Then if I need to make changes I can use the goto config button. Thanks in advance!
