Fanuc 6 axis robot clip detection

3 posts in this topic

Trying to figure out a setup to help detect when a door clip is not inserted into the door and returns in the 6 axis robots tool to pick up more clips. Trying to prevent from clips smashing each other, damaging the tool on the 6 axis robot and preventing from damaging the track that the clips sit in after they slide down the track from a vibratory bowl feeder. Tried a strip clip program each time after it places the clips in the door just to make sure if a clip doesnt get inserted but it does not work as the clip does not have the same points as whats already programmed in the strip clip program. When the clip misses, it forces the clip higher up in the tool, therefore having different measurements than if the robot goes straight to a strip clip program to strip the clips. Any help would be fantastic! thanks!

why can't you use a sensor and check if clip is present? I did few years ago 5 cells using small robots to install clips into door panels. all work like charm.

Good point, Panic Mode. An end of arm sensor is needed to verify a clip is present as well as a shift register to not feed another clip if the sensor bounced off.
