  1. Flow Meters for Petrochemical

Hi Ross, For batching go with pulse, it's dirrect measurement. This method will be as precice as your meter. You can use 4-20mA to show flow ratre, temp, density.
  2. Flow Meters for Petrochemical

Hi Jeremy, As far as type of the meter i would go with coriolis type, from brands like Krohne, Micro Motion, or Red Seal.
  3. Hi all, I have a magmeter installed on the line where corn starch is mixed with water, and it needs cleaning every year so it doesn't give wrong readings. What do you use for cleaning corn starch buildup on the lining of the magmeter. Thanks
  4. Motor Lead Wire

For application like yours we are using only two kinds of motor lead wire. 1. SRML wire for high temperature, hazardous locations and flexibility. 2. Sil-a-blend from Radix, same as above. Never had anybody complain.

  6. Insulation types

Hi Majority wire we use for control and I/O is MTW 90Deg C. and we don't go below 18AWG, same for power we also use MTW and we don't go below 14AWG for 220V and above. For power feed to distribution block we use SRML or Radix wire which is rated above 150 Deg. C. MTW wire is easier to work with, we also use other wires but it really depends what environment panel is going to and what NEMA rating enclusure it's in. Singnal wire is usualy one of the belden multiconductor with shield like Belden 8760.
  7. panel color codes

I believe you can basically use any wire color except green, green/yellow for wiring as long as color code is marked on electrical drawing.
  8. Power supply protection

Hi You want to fuse both legs to your power supply (when you using two legs out of 3Phase) with same fuse size or .25% larger what manufacturer specs and make sure it's right model of fuse (time curve) because of inrush current.
  9. Wiring Schematics

Hi It really helps doing electrical schematics and panel layouts in auto CAD software. When you use CAD you can make updates on the spot easy of use and it's easier to work with. Laying out your components it's a breeze especially if you deal with hoffman enclousures and small components you can download CAD blocks, same thing if you deal with A-B components if you know what you doing guys in assembly and wiring will love you. As they say everything looks good on paper, but when it comes to put all the parts on back panel that's a different story. So good drawings are essential. To include all documentation in finished product it really depends on customer. Most of the time I include all literature from components, as build drawings and that is it but this is only done when you build panel for customer who did whole design. If our company does design than full documentation is supplied drawings, PLC code, customer paid for it right.
