Logix 5000 Communicaiton Problem With PC

Hi all, I was trying to communicate my pc with compact logix plc.... using logix 5000 software... I was able to view the PLC in Rslinx. In logix 5000 ,,, in set project path .... i was able to view the plc ,,, if i place the cursor on the interface in the communication path ---- Download,Upload ,Set project path buttons were disabled,,,, But i was able to communicate with the controller using another PC... i perform the same procedure ,,, i was able to upload ,download.. What could be error on my PC ,any one experienced this problem,,, My PC is Win 7, 32 bit .. Installation went without any error Regards, Nelliyan.G

The communication path should point to the CPU itself, not just to the communication module. With CompactLogix controllers prior to the 5370 family, a common problem is to be unable to browse pas the communication daughter card to the CPU unless you have the proper EDS files for the virtual backplane and the CPU installed. The current generation of 5370 series CompactLogix will accept a connection directly to the network port because of changes that integrate the port object into the CPU.

Look in RsLinx. Does the PLC appear with an interrogation symbol? like this --> ? If so, it's because you need to install the EDS file library that references that specific Ethernet Module.
