11 posts in this topic

I want to put a company logo as the screen saver to the panelview but I am unsure how to do this or even if it is even possible. I am using Rsview Studio for the panelview development. Can anyone help me out? Edited by coltonk

Hi, I have a panel view plus on site and after reading the artical I fancy a go at changing the screen saver. My Panel View does not have a compact flash card at the moment, I looked into buying an AB one aprox £200. A normal one is about £5. Can anyone tell me if it needs to be an AB one? Thanks in advance Myles

I have standard ones. Never had a problem. With PV+, the most stable way to run things seems to be to download the CF contents to memory anyways. Windows CE works fine with standard CF devices. XP Embedded on the other hand has problems since it wants to constantly write to the boot drive.

rpraveenkum, Thank you! That lower left pixel being the transparent color helps a lot. We couldn't figure out what was wrong with it.

Pauls good experience aside I recall a lengthy and "heated" discussion post elsewhere on this forum about CF cards. The consensus was with non AB you might get a good one and run fine, but might also get a pig in a poke. And if the non Ab acts up don't ask for support from them.

We currently have 300-400 non AB CF cards in the field with no real problems. We have one AB CF card and it doesn't work. Go figure. I think I did send back one group of non-AB CF cards and was refunded for them.

Any time you have a directory or file name in Windows that has a space in it, you need to surround it in quotes. If you renamed SCREEN SAVER1.bmp to SCREEN_SAVER1.bmp the batch files would probably work without further modification.

The batch files don't work on your laptop (in part) because you have a workstation Windows OS, which letters the drives as D:, E:, F: etc, instead of using names like "USB Storage" and "Storage Card". The error message makes it very clear that the space causes Windows to stop looking at the filename, which is why it says "\USB StorageS\SCREEN" not found, instead of "\USB Storage\SCREEN SAVER.BMP" not found. Is your terminal very old, like with version 3.0 or 3.10 firmware ? Those would be more than ten years old and do not support the screen saver feature. I've never had the technique described in the RA Knowledgebase fail, so I'm not sure what else might be wrong with your exact syntax or your batch files.
