Hi guys, Ive used omron and mitsubishi plc's for year and just starting to learn some basic siemens s7 (specifically 300 and 1200) before i go on a training course............is it me or is it incredulously over complicated? I am using tia portal v11 (very nice as far as industrial software goes) but even the simplest of tasks seems to be near enough impossible, currently i am trying increment a register everytime an input closes. Cant find any reference to an increment instruction but an add instruction will do.......... errrm any combination of anything add results in red squiggles and wrong data type no matter what data type i select Ive tried adding constants, db's,mw's nothing works :'-( Please help before i cry i just want to take a db add one to it and put the result back in the original db surely theres an easy way to add numbers? Ironically getting the web server to work was really easy and fun what a weird world siemens is lol And yes i have siemens huge automating with s7-300 book on my lap but its just not helping

Welcome to the world of German logic. You sometimes need to think backwards to come forward.......

The ADD instructions are either Integer or Floating Point, when using them the data you are entering should match. So if your using ADD_I for instance, both words adding and the result should all be created as Integer's. You can turn off type matching.
