I face the same situation because I cannot afford to have buggy software jeopordize my ability to get a machine up and running in a timely manner. That is the reason that I typically stay 6 months to a year behind the latest software rev. Currently, I am running Proficy ME 5.8 and have noticed no real issues; in fact, some of the issues that I had with ME 5.7 have been fixed. I just switched to ME 5.8 at the end of last year and, eventhough I do have Global Care, I will probably wait six months or so after the release of ME 5.9 before I upgrade. Then, once I do upgrade, I will only upgrade one PC until I have proven out the latest release. I do this with all of my software, including Crimson, RSLogix and others. Regards Ken

Are you using Proficy ME to do the programming of the 9030?

Hi Raj, Steve is correct, as usual. Please let me know if you need the manual, I believe that I have it in a PDF. Russ, Thanks again for your input on the IC695CMM002 module last year. I did incorporate it into my project and, to date, the module is performing better than expected. The only thing that I did not really care for is that I had to manually code all of the error checking, comms retries and other comms tasks. I think that the module would be even better if some of these routine tasks were automated. Thanks again

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your problem with the RX3i. I had the very same problem last year and had to use a previous backup becuase the uploaded program was corrupt. You may also need to clear the memory of the processor to enable the download of the new program. I had to replace the processor with a spare to get the machine running and then I had to put the old processor in a spare rack and clear the memory to get it to accept the download. I have not had any trouble out of it since, but there are two things that I do now to prevent this from happening again. I only make online edits one rung at a time. When this happened, I had made online edits to several rungs at the same time and was trying to accept the edits. Also, I was programming the unit with the ETM001 ethernet module via a network switch. Now, I only make online edits while attached directly to one of the ETM001 ports. Good luck

Hi Gravitar, The Default Reference View tables are used to show the current status of the reference variable and the description, if one has been defined, can also be seen when you select a bit or a register, other than that the reference table will not provide the usage. There are two methods that I use to see the usage; The first is to use the "Search - Find In" search function from the main menu of Proficy and search for the variable. The results of the search will be displayed in the "Feedback Zone" display menu. The other method is to go to the "Project Navigator - Variable List" and do a Cross-Reference on the desired variable. To do this, go to the top of the variable list and right-click on the Variable List Icon. Then choose "Report - Cross reference by ... " and press OK. This will generate a cross-reference report for you. I hope that this helps. Best regards

Mr. Nachtwey: I have Associate's and Bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and I have never cheated on anything. I have removed all references to my work and will certainly never share any of my code again on this or any other forum. Regards

_0130150623_001.pdf Are you using Proficy ME? If so, I believe that the * indicates a bit or word is being used and the (-) indicates that the word is not being used. Also, if you view the usage report for an R register, the * will indicate that one word is used. The #* indicates a double word. I have attached a pdf file showing a usage report. The * indicates that the inputs are being used. Regards

Thanks for the information. I appreciate your input.

The current GE 90-30 programming software is called Proficy ME (Machine Edition). The standard version will program the GE 90-30 PLCs, VersaMax and the Micro PLCs. It cost about $900.00. If you want to program the entire suite of the GE product line, including the PACs systems and motion, the software will cost a good deal more. Your local GE distributor should be able to provide you with pricing and part numbers. Regards

I have a project planned this year where I will need to interface several Wago Modbus programmable fieldbus controllers with an RX3i and I thought that the IC695CMM002 Serial Communications Module may work well. Has anyone used the IC695CMM002 Serial Communications Module for the RX3i? I am looking for opinions or glitches that I may encounter with the module. Thanks

Thanks. I appreciate the information. These are just going to be used for trainers, I just wanted to be able to tell the electricians why they can't force these like they can with the RX3i. Best regards

I have four old GE 90-30, IC693CPU323 PLCs that I have just replaced with RX3i PAC Systems. I want to take these old processors and set them up as trainers for our electricians, but after configuring the PLC and downloading a sample program with Proficy Ver. 5.7, I noticed that I was not able to force I/O in the CPU323. Does the GE90-30, CPU 323 support forcing of I/O? I am able to toggle bits like %M0001 and turn them ON and OFF, but Force ON, Force OFF and Remove Forces are disabled in the context menu. Regards,
