What do you use to test your PLC logic?

3 posts in this topic

Hey everyone, I'm wondering what people use to test their PLC logic? Is there a software package or utility that you use to make sure your automation works correctly before you test the PLC logic on the real machine(s)? I haven't heard much about how people do that. I have developed some macros to interface with my programs but am curious what else is out there. Thanks for your input!

I do essentially the same thing as RussB does. If the program is complex enough that I can't test it with simple toggle switches, I will connect it up to another PLC and write a simulator program. The problem with that approach is that your results will only be as good as the simulation so don't shortcut the process.
