Immediete Stop Altivar 31

4 posts in this topic

Hello, I am trying to get an indexing motor to stop immediately but it is running on.I am using a Altivar 312 1.1Kw the Inverter is controlled via Modbus and I have tried a Fast Stop by sending #100F command but not fast enough. I believe I can get DC Injection Stop by sending #200F but not sure of settings needed. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Peter

Stop/Start should really be controlled by physical wires for this reason. The communications simply won't update fast enough.

I feared that might be the case Jeremy my process uses a sensor seeing a flag to stop the indexing motor. The old inverter was a Omron J7 mini but I was keen to use a 312 via modbus and control speed on a HMI. Thanks

communications is great for speed references, mode changes, status information, etc. But for reasons of safety and reliable control, it's better that start/stop is hardwired.
