  1. Celluar Modem...Not router

Chris, Working from the PLC to the Laptop the connection would go something like this: PLC <Serial connection> Modem <POTS Line> Phone Co Switch <(as KR put it,)"some miracle of modernity"> Internet <cable modem> Laptop <virtual modem> PLC Software or this example: PLC <Serial connection> Modem <POTS Line> Phone Co Switch <celluar connection> Blackberry (As Modem, windows will need to see this as the modem, and have the ability to dial from it) <USB> Laptop PLC Software Hope I got that correct.
  2. Maybe this is the wrong place to post this but here goes. Does anyone know of software that will act as a virtual modem on my laptop or another way without using software? What I have is a PLC connected to a modem and I am able to dial into it via landline, but I have long since removed any landline in my home. I would like to dial into the PLC from my laptop thru the "interweb" but PC needs to think that it has a modem that is attached so I can point the PLC software to the modem. I am not looking to browse the internet, I am looking to dial into a PLC through the internet. For example, if you type in "Use cell phone as a modem" into google, all you get is how to connect to the web through your cell phone, I dont care about browsing the web with my cell.I am running XP Pro and have a Verizon BB Storm. Just in case anyone was wondering. Is anyone else out there trying or doing the same thing I am? Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated!
  3. Ultra 3000

If anyone care.... Update: Controller - 2098-DSD-010X Motor - N-3406-2-H00AA Ultraware is FREE...Here is the LINK http://www.rockwellsoftware.com/supp...il.cfm?ID=3655 So far I have everything wired and installed, just need a "gender bender" to complete my comm link. I will obtain one tomorrow. Here is the application: Customer wants the motor to oscillate back and forth @ 2000RPM with minimal stall before switching directions. Once the speed and distance are set during the "tweaking period" they will remain with no user input. Oh, they want to run this thing "Stand alone", No I/O. I think I will have to put a minimum of a timer relay to delay the enable signal while the driver starts up. I am wondering 2 things right off the bat, if I will need a reversing signal, and will I need to put a home sensor in place (on power up the drive can locate.) The docs are a little contradicting, some say this motor has an absolute signal and some do not acknowledge that. With the absolute signal I should not have to have a home sensor right, the servo knows its position on power up? Oh well I will play with this thing when I get the adapter!
  4. ML1100

If anyone cares...... UPDATE! The vendor that speced out the parts for the project met with the sensopart distributor and with help from the German manufacturer, they have it where we will be able to switch the setup config by discreet pulses. From what I understand, in the camera config software, these guys set up a counter that monitored a configurable input and did a comparison. C=x then "this". NOW, if I can just get the 1762-OB8 modules in that I ordered 2 weeks ago I could finish this project. What is going on with AB and the "Part Shortage", anyone know?
  5. I got something I would like to throw out. I got asked today if I could setup a servo drive, Ultra 3000. Well I dont want to say no without actually looking into it, plus I have had a little experience with them but only on the "connecting and here is the fault code" so I decided to bring it here. I have been doing some reading on the install, wiring, and some in the I/O. I got into the motor feedback (different encoders) and external encoders. Everything seems to be in my comfort zone but.... I have a few questions: I am not sure what how these guys want to commission the drive(d-net, discreet I/O, sercos, or anything else) but what interface software would I need besides Ultraware to get this thing going? Using another controller is out of the question since they have 5 Ultra 3000's still in the box, and I can safely assume they are not using the "PAC" platform of AB controllers. The object is to use the servo to piece feed a material (at a predetermined amount, not sure how this is going to be input, or speed, or any other determing factor...isnt this fun already) and reverse (for some reason) for a short time, stop, and re-feed. Does anyone know if the Ultraware is a free DL or something that I/(we) will need to purchase? And, does anyone have a file that I can browse through to get an idea of what I am dealing with? This one is a new one on me but if it was easy everyone would be doing it, and I like the challenge. Just wanted to see what kind of feed back I would get. Thanks Guys!
  6. ML1100

Ok I have been reading for three days. I need some help determining if I can do this or not. I apologize before hand for any information that I will leave out. This is what I have: ML1100 bul.1763 series b. Chnl 0 is reading barcode scanner (no problems). chnl 1 is on a LAN. Communing with a PV + (No problems) The other device that is on the LAN is a Sensopart FA 45 Eyesight camera (PT#522-91082 (or 92)). The camera is looking down at products and giving a Pass/Fail signal. The camera has 5 configurations that have to be trigger in order for the camera to identify the Parts. The vendor that specified the parts in this job was under the impression that the cameras config could be changed by discreet triggering using pulse from the PLC. (I had to order a 1762-OB8 to do the switching in the time the camera needed). The reality is that the camera can use the discreet siganl to trigger the capture but needs a command string to change the configuration of the cameras. The actually string is "#007<FILENAME>.ckp#". How can I set the MSG instruction to write this command to the camera? I have setup MSG instructions for PLC to PLC communication but never for a "Non-AB" device. The camera manual is very vague on the actual communication setup other that that it is an "UDP protocol" and that the recieving port is "5952". Camera Site.... Manual is on the right How can I direct the MSG to that specific port. I could only get as far as the IP address. Then when I choose the generic CIP, it tells me that the "string" format is invalid. I sure could use some advice on this.
  7. I am trying to start a project using a PV Plus 1250, FTV Studio 5 (CPR9) Build 55. I am using a SLC 5/05. I am fimiliar with setting up shortcuts with the 5000 series and setting up the offline files witht the 5000 series, but when i try to do the same for the SLC, it doesnt see the Processor nor will it give me the option to find the offline file extension for the SLC. It only gives me the option for the *.ACD file. Can anyone help me with this or point me in the right direction, on how to import the tag information?
  8. Can you elaborate on what you had to do to get the tags to show? I have a similar situation: FT Studio 5 (CPR9) 1756-L55/A Controller I have configured shortcuts to the controller and to the offline tag file, and I still dont see the tags in the tag Folder. I must confess this is my first FT Studio project. I am familiar with PV 32 and others but FT Studio is throwing me under the bus.
  9. GOT 1000 Ladder Monitor

    Thanks for Confirming Crossbow
  10. GOT 1000 Ladder Monitor

Hey guys, I just purchased a GT-1575-VTBA, and I would like to moniter ladder data. When I used the function key to access the Ladder Monitor screen I get "This Function Can't be used Right Now". This error is not listed in the manuals that are provided with the GT Designer 2 software package. I have downloaded the OS option for the Ladder monitor, Q series to be exact. But when I read the ladder monitor section, it has a chart that provides part numbers that need to be installed on the GOT to do the ladder monitor. My question is, is this correct? I will need to purchase more hardware to do this function? I am connected to a Q02H CPU via Bus.
  11. HMI programming software

You are right Crossbow, cant get any easier than that....Thanks. I did the stupid thing by putting HMI in the Family and A800 as the Series. Got a link to the Pin Out for the cable?
  12. HMI programming software

I hope I dont offend anyone, but Mitsu has a crappy website, so I coundnt find the Free Download. Crossbow could you provide a link and maybe a cable pin out diagram? But Crossbow is right, if there is a free DL to extract the Program out of the GOT then you could convert it to a GT file, and have a better chance that someone will have GT works so you could have some one print that data for you.
  13. HMI programming software

The 800 series GOT are not DOS based systems. As a matter of fact, the are not far from the 900 series GOT. I can get you the exact software info, but I dont have the informaton in front of me right now. Are you trying to modify an existing 800 Series GOT or are you trying to install a newer series GOT and would like to use the base that the 800 series has already built in. I have done this before. Went from and 800 series GOT to a 900 series. Please get let me know exactly what you are trying to do.
  14. Ramping Instructions

Hey Guys, I finally got it.... First Problem.....I forgot to put the "S" for "signed" compare. Duhhhh I put the "S" in and run into another problem....the variable for the ramping wasto much are too little. So I had to add a few comparisons in to smooth it out. This may be the long way to do it but I got there with better than expected results. I have attached a sample of the code. Since I am using conditions to MOV a value to a DM and comparing, to test last night I was just putting -2000 to +2000(since I am dealing with a +or- Output) in the "New Speed" DM Thanks for all your ideas, I could still use some ideas on the Indusoft situation. Nibroc, My Problem is trying to keep it simple for the guy who will be setting the values. He will be able to type "-2000" into the DM but it will show him "F830" or "63547", so how will he verify that the value took, better yet how will he know to even change it? Nibroc, Also I just realized that you uploaded a FB, I am going to try it now..... Test.zip
