Communication help between MicoLogix 1400 and GE Versamax.

6 posts in this topic

Hello everyone, I have a MicroLogix 1400 and need to communicate with a GE Versamax. I have only ever communicated between a MicroLogix and Seimens via Anybus X-gate, and CompactLogix and C1000 controller via Prosoft module. To start, both the Micologix and Versamax are Ethernet capable, so do I need a special module like the Prosoft or X-gate? Thanks!

The VersaMax Ethernet supports the GE protocol called SRTP and EGD. So you will need a device that can interpret to/from one of those protocols.

Thank you very much, is there a module that you would suggest?

ProSoft has an EtherNet/IP to Ethernet Global Data gateway that should work great in this scenario. http://www.prosoft-technology.com/Products/Gateways/EtherNet-IP/EtherNet-IP-to-GE-Ethernet-Global-Data-Gateway

I would recommend a Red Lion Data Station http://www.redlion.net/product/dsple-protocol-converter Edited by RussB

Data Stations are great for many protocols, but I don't think the data stations support EGD, so the user is forced to use SRTP. I've used it many times, but ONLY when EGD isn't available.
