Greetings friends. This week was conducting an Ethernet connection between a Compact Logix PLC and a panel view 1000 plus. The point is that had a small cable (5 m) and the connection was normal. However he was then using a 20 m cable and there was no way to connect the two computers. Use the cable from my laptop to the PLC and worked very well. When using the same cable from my laptop to the view panel could not establish communication. We appreciate your help. Thank you.

Question. I inherited the the following PLCs without any software. 1769-L16ER 1769-L36 ERM1768 L43/A 1756-L73 I'm trying to obtain the software but I know the version needs to match the firmware. Can I use RS linx classic lite to find that out? Will the classic lite that is a free download communicate enough for me to get the information I need before upgrading? Thanks Edited by Whozep68

if everything else works OK (cables, etc.) then yes, the free RSLinx Lite software should let you connect enough to Right-Click on a processor's icon and choose "Device Properties" from the popup menu ... the Revision number is what you're looking for ... note that you might have to download and install the appropriate EDS (Electronic Data Sheets) if the icons are displayed as only yellow question marks ... good luck with your project ...

Hello everybody, I am new.  Let me be a little more clear...when I say new I mean really new, like when an apple is green and the seeds are just forming inside...Im one of those seeds kind of new!  So, with that out of the way, I am taking rslogix 5000 class and am having great difficulty so far.  Can anyone guide me in the direction of a thread that discusses what I am working with from the beginning?  I have searched tirelessly through the forums but am clearly doing something wrong because every time I do search terms I get 0 results.  Thanks in advance

The first one isn't asking you to enter a password, but to specify which file to use.  You need to browse to where the file that contains the project with the same processor name and password is stored.  The second one is where you enter the password.

I also have a netbook that uses xp home edition. I use it for all my programming 'on the go' and would like to get the rs linx  version 2.50 to try on it.

Does anyone know where to obtain the older releases? - Version 2.57 is what I found at the Rockwell site.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have downloaded the RSLinx with no issues!.  I am trying to download a free version of the RSLogix software to enable programming of a Micrologix 1000 PLC we are using to control one of our production line sections.  I have tried all the above and in all cases I still get asked to supply serial numbers and product codes, purchasing details,  that I do not have.  Is there anywhere, or anyway, I can get some sort of software that I can use to communicate with the PLC as I need to add more sensors on the line.

Regards

Tim

Update: 12:40  I have been able to gain a download from the downloads page of this site That might work.  Sorry to post original but will update again if the download from here gives the same problems as my original software.  Thanks

If you have upgraded to windows 10 these free softwares are not compatible as of today. check you windows operating system and compare that to what you are downloading.

If you cannot find the 'Actiation Certificate' in your printed information which came with the package then get in touch with the Allen Bradly distributor from which you purchased the software.

The thing  is, I just download the software on internet. so I don't have the activation certificate. I'm just looking if I can get from someone.

Moses, what you are asking for is software piracy, and is clearly against the terms of service you agreed to when you made an account on this website.  It's illegal.  The only way to get the software is to buy it from a licensed distributor.

Mention it again and your time here will be over.

Not to mention that Rockwell aggressively pursues pirated software.  You may want to plan on a discussion with their lawyers.  They do not play around where their software is concerned!
