Could you take a picture of the prog cable socket on the CPU? Just for looking at the connections? I don't remember exactly but I think you need an adapter cable for this CPU...

I think you should use the SC-Q cable on that CPU. SC-09 has a built in RS-232/RS-422 converter, SC-Q do not.

SC-Q has a 6 pin round port, and I am nearly certain that's not what is on the A0J2. I believe it was a 25-pin connection.

Yes, you are right. I was reading Q02, perhaps time to buy reading glasses

You need to use SC09 cable with Medoc software. But It only support Windows 98 OS or below. You probably need the Windows 98 OS laptop with direct serial communication port. Or you can try to install the Virtual PC with Windows 98 OS.

Medoc is as mentioned only supported on Win98, however I've tried installing it on Win7 32bit and it installs fine... Where do you problem occur when trying to read from the PLC?

Medoc software able to be installed in Windows 7, but cannot communicate with the PLC online except Windows 98 or below. I had tried to use Virtual PC software and Windows 98 OS and communicate it with A0J2CPU successful.

Sorry, but fully able to communicate with PLC in my case, using both physical serial port or USB serial converter using Win7 32bit and Medoc

That's great if can directly communicate with Win7, but i failed to communicate it by using Window XP few years ago. Probably the new Windows OS or new Medoc version already settle the problem.

Try googling MEDOC V2.41 It's a 32 bit version that works with XP. Not sure if I should have said that or not .......

Mitsubishi's US website had it in the downloads section as a free download so I think it's public now. But that was 2.30, the last release officially from Mitsubishi.

As was mentioned, try Google, there's a hundred links to download it.  I thought it was in download section here at one point.
