Hello,
I am presently connecting 3 CJ1M PLCs to Supervisor using Hostlink via a PC using COM Port 1. I would like to connect using a lap top but cant seem to connect using a normal usb serial port converter has any one had any success connecting via a lap top and what converter did you use.

At our school we have issues with USB converters with the Prolific chip and Win7, even when using the latest drivers. Converters using the FTDI chip are reported to be better, but we have instead replaced most of our older PLCs with CJ2M and CP1L.

Buy the one from Omron - it has an FTDI chipset and is tested by Omron for use with all their PLCs etcetera - I have not found anything yet where it does not work.
You get what you pay fore at the end of the day.
