PLC2/20 Emulator

2 posts in this topic

I'm attempting to write software to communicate with a PLC2/20 control cabinet. Is there anywhere I can get an emulator to simulate the PLC2/20?

Hi, I'm not aware of any PLC2 emulators (but I could be proven wrong)... However if I understand your request right you are really trying to get some other device to R/W with PLC datatable via the serial port. If so then you may be able to use any PLC5 or SLC500 device to do the same job. All these processors support "PLC2 Mode" comms and use the N9:0 data file to emulate PLC 2 memory. Then you may be able to write the logic you want to emulate in the PLC/SLC, put the R/W data into N9:0 and you get the result you want. Incidently this is why file #N9:0 is normally reserved and not used for other purposes. Either use a physical PLC5/SLC500 via Ch0 or I'm guessing that one of the common emulators for them will likely support PLC2 mode via the PC serial port.
