Is it possible to communicate a Laptops' parrallel with a PLC's serial connection by using some sort of convertor.

Try a company called B&B Electronics. They offer all types of converters. I believe the part you will need is 232sps.

I assume you are asking this because your new laptop doesn't have a serial port. I would strongly recommend you just get a USB to Serial adapter. www.tigerdirect.com has one from CP Technologies for around 20 bucks US that works with every PLC software I've encountered. Some others like Belkin or IOGear have problems with some packages.
