Controls schematics

6 posts in this topic

I have been using some old controls schematics at work as a general guide line as how to create controls schematics and was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their style. I would like to update some schematics at work but would like some fresh new ways to represent them. I have loaded the JIC autocad schematics add-on, and use that here and there for my controlls but would also would like to know if anyone would share their library of components(i.e. contactors, N.O switches, etc....). Thanks

I have been using the symols add in for autocad and was wondering how you format your drawing to be printed on standard 8.5 x 11 paper? Thanks, Jason

It all depends on your printer. I draw all my electrical drawings on a D Size border. Then I use the SCALE TO FIT option, and plot the drawing using the "extents". Depending on your printer, you select A size or B Size paper and it auto adjusts if you use the settings I said above. I have an HP 8000 series printer that can print 11 x 17 (B-Size) so I select that as the paper size, and SCALE TO FIT, then extents, and it comes out great. Or I can choose 8.5x11, with the same settings and fills out the paper good as well...or I can send the drawings to the HP 500 Plotter, and plot them D Size, with the same settings above, and it works great too.... I hope that helps.

Are you saying that you will scale a 24" x 36" drawing down to 8.5"x11"? The problem I am having is keeping the drawing legible when trying to shrink it down to fit on the standard 8.5 x 11 paper. Right now I have resorted to makiong a block that has predeifned power rails and hope that everything will fit in between. I have attatched an example. Thanks again, Jason example.bmp Edited by Atlascycle
