Is it possible to connect the two PLCs over approx 100m of twisted pair cable and if so, how? If not, is it possible between two Fx2N or any of the 'smaller' PLCs? Thankful for any help whatsoever!

Cheapest and easyest way is to add a CC-Link module to each PLC. This will allow cyclic and transient communications. FX2N-32CCL - CClink slave FX2N-16CCLM - CCLink master unit Will work on both FX1N and FX2N CPU Setup of the master is done by code not parameters (as in Qn series) No setup of slave required
