I've never heard of the Logix5000 platform sending email but would dearly love for it to do so.

Here's a tech note that covers it (access level: TechConnect):
https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30937
They provide example programs and a link to another tech note that adds instructions to follow if your email server requires authentication (access level: TechConnect):
https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/587225

They also refer to this manual:
https://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/um/enet-um006_-en-p.pdf

I have no idea how well it works or how to make it work, but that may get you started.

Good luck finding an SMTP server that doesn't require authentication.

There are still some Port 25 email servers are still out there, but most won't meet any IT policy that'll pass company security protocol . I haven't looked for a free email service that used an unsecured port either.

Most are SSL rated port 465 services nowadays.
