Modbus tcp help Micrologix 1400

Hello, I’m new to PLC programming.  I have a Micrologix 1400b configured as a Modbus tcp slave.  My question is what is the best way to map bits from the I O and B data tables to holding registers that can be accessed by a Modbus tcp client. I enabled Modbus tcp, created a data file and have used xic and ote instructions and it appears to work.  Is there a simpler way to do this?
