Labels & GT designer

3 posts in this topic

Hello everybody!

I am currently 'programming' an HMI for a machine in a factory,

(GT2103 / GS2107 Mitsubishi, software GT designer 3)

I'm not a newbe, BUT..

on the PROJECT tree I noticed something wich are called 'labels'.

I did some reseach on internet but it is still not clear..

---

What are labels for, and what can you do with it ???

---

Could you be so kind as to tell me more about these 'labels' ?

Thanks  !!

That's just a way you can use names instead of Variables.

I would suggest you use this option. Not only does it make more sense to use naming instead of devices.

You will also have a list of the devices being used. I always change the default devices like screen switching to labels.

Tip. If a device is already setup in an object than browse button doesn't work. Delete the device and then  press the browse button. then you can select the labels.

Hi Reinier

The real advantage is that if you are using GX Works 2 or GX Works 3 to program the plc and are using labels in the plc program (structured ladder / FBD etc.) then you can very simply export all your plc labels and devices and import them into GT Works, you will just pick the label name in the HMI project against the action of a device. If you need any info on how to do it just send me a message.

Hope this was helpful

Matt
