Might not be a big deal, but isn't the path supposed to be 1,1,2 and not 1.1.2? I don't remember if it is ( , ) or a ( .) comma or dot?

1,1,2, [ip] isn't valid

try 2,[ip] or 1,2,[ip]

You can also add the target device to the I/O tree of the device with the MSG instruction and browse to it. Here's an example using a 1756-L71 ControlLogix to read data from a 1769-L33ER CompactLogix:

That CIP Path looks OK for a message originating in a 1756-L71 ControlLogix or GuardLogix with a 1756-EN2T or other Ethernet module in Slot 1.

"1,1" is "backplane, Slot 1"

"2, 192.168.105.245"    is "Network port, IP address"

"1,0" is the default hop to the backplane and then the CompactLogix L43 CPU

If the originating controller's Ethernet module is not in Slot 1, the CIP path should be adjusted.

Wondering why you aren't trying to do this with Produce/Consume.  Seems like it might be easier.

Not sure why the original poster isn't using Produced/Consumed in his application, but I've found that in a 24*7*365 production environment where you need to add a new feature or function you often can't get the downtime to setup Produced/Consumed, but you can "hack" in a pair of read messages quite easily.
