GXWorks2- Difference POU and program settings

5 posts in this topic

Hi Guys,

Sorry for my bad Englisch, will try to do my best.

Normally i`m familiair with Schneider PLC`s.
Now doing an project for the first time in Mitsubishi GXWorks2 with an FX2 CPU.
I have created  different program parts in the POU part in the navigation folder, but when i download these to the PLC, they won`t run.

Now i have copied these program parts also to the MAIN / program settings, and when i download this time, to program is running.

What is the diffrence between the MAIN/program parts and the POU?
Now i can open the programs in both folders.

Can someone explain this to me?  (see attachment for more details)

Best regards,
Arnold

That is simple. The POU are just the programs themselves but they are not send to the PLC if they are not linked to a TASK/ program File.

So they are only compiled when you have dragged them to the MAIN file.

As your Analoog POU is still red it either has not been compiled or it still has an error.

If you want to get up to speed with Mitsubishi there are e few free online courses for FX and GX Works 2

en in het Nederlands kun je ook de vraag ook posten als dat makkelijker is  :)

Hi Gambit,

Thank you for you`re answer! (Nederlands is inderdaad wat eenvoudiger ;-) )

Do i need to make / change programs in the POU of the MAIN section, or does`nt that matter?

Will check the online courses, thanks for the hint!

I'm just posting a minor comment on this:

It's correct like @Gambit writes that it doesn't matter because they are the same thing. I have absolutely no idea why Mitsu have decided to keep the Program and the Local Label in the Program Setting section like you describe, instead of keeping the POU as POU and Program Setting as Program Setting. It is confusing for many. GW2 is designed like this and I don't know why, but it would probably have been better to just link the programs with a label/headername of some sort instead of actually showing the program parts too under Program Setting.

In any way it's a minor "problem", but still it is strange.
