Need some help with Micro820/General testing -- new to this

2 posts in this topic

I'm new to PLC programming. I just started a job and my first project is to figure out what's wrong with an existing program written for our micro820 and fix it. I was trying to work through a traffic light example online to learn, but it turns out CCW no longer supports controller simulation via its developer edition. If I have the controller physically in front of me and connect it to my computer and to CCW, how can I simulate inputs to verify it'll give me the correct outputs and do what I want on the machine its supposed to be connected to?

I hope what I'm asking makes sense, I'm not quite sure about all this yet. I'm not sure if I need a test bed wired to the controller that can supply inputs, or if this can be done virtually so long as I have the physical controller. If there's anything else I can provide that might help facilitate an answer please let me know.

with a controller, you can force input to verify the logic
