communicate with PLC melsec Q (mitsubishi)

4 posts in this topic

Dear all,

i have a problem with communication between AB PLC (compactlogix series) and Mitsubishi PLC (Melsec Q). So my system have a lot of AB PLC and they are commmunicate via ethernet IP, So i would like to integrated Mitsubishi PLC to AB system.

and i have a idea, i will insert module QJ71EIP71 to Mitsubishi PLC and communicate with AB PLC via ethernet IP.

Do you think that solution will work? and in AB PLC, do i just use instruction "MSG" to read and write data to Mitsubishi PLC?

Thanks in advance,

Hello hieutran8969:

First of all, although I have some experience with Melsec, I do not recognise the QJ71EIP71 part number. There is a module which has the QJ71E71-100, which allows a Melsec Q processor to communicate with Ethernet devices. The manual is below.

http://www.mitsubishielectric.co.jp/fa/document/nproduct/plc/155e/155e.pdf

The QJ71E71-100 does not support EtherNet/IP, so writing a Melsec program which could read or write ControlLogix tags is quite an undertaking. I would redcommend that you consider using a gateway such as Softing's echcollect which has built-in support for both Melsec and Rockwell. The echocollect is a Melsec TCP client and a CIP client, and has a configuration tool that allows for programming collect tables which read datablocks from one PLC and writes onto the other, relatively painlessly. You can find more information of this product here: https://industrial.softing.com/en/products/plc-connectivity/integration-of-plc-data/gateways-multiprotocol/echocollect-e.html.

I hope this is helpful.

I strongly suggest the use of a Red Lion DSP along with Crimson 3 software.  Easiest, simplest solution.

Dear PLC_guy_in_Yokohama,

i search in website with address "mitsubishi.automation",  and i saw module QJ71EIP71 (see link), and it's function is ethernet IP communication but i can not see EDS file of that module to add to RSlogix5000 to config parameter  of data communicate, also IP address of module to communicate.

 thanks you,
