converting gx developer program to gx works 2

15 posts in this topic

Hello all,

Seems like a simple thing to do, converting my program. But gx works 2 keeps switching to gx developer to run my program.

I tryed looking up in the help, no luck there. Internet has brought me here. So i'm hoping someone here can help me out.

Is there a way to prevent gx works 2 to start developer?

Any help will be much appreciated.

edit: uninstalling gx developer is not an option, as i need it still for other plc's

Yes, that works. But from there it starts gx developer to open the program. I want it to run in gx works 2 so i can save it there.

Next step will be to convert it into gx works 3.

Check your software version, mb this problem was in too old gxd and gxw2 or your CPU can be programming  only in gxd

Thank you clear.mind. Seems like i get an older version of gx works 2.

Gonna run me some updates and see if that sorts the problem out.

Will keep you updated.

So, i ran the updates...

It still won't converge the program. I tryed with another program and it went just fine.

edit: Came closer to the issue it seems. Found me another program which is giving me the same issue.

Similarity is that both are run on an A1S plc.

Well that explains it GX Works 2 doesn't support the A series  its to old. Only FX, L-series  and System Q.

For the new iQ-F and iQ-R you need GX works 3

We just recently installed the first fx5 plc. Software wise we got all we need. I just happened to have the luck of picking out a program for the A1S to see

how converging would work. We haven't been using gxw2 much. We have been using gxd mainly for programming. So now slowly making the transition to gxw3.

But since we got around 40 plc's here in the range from fx0 up to fx5 recently, with inbetween a few A1S and Q system, was looking into how converging would work and see what issues would rise.

Writing 40 programs all over again is not something i look forward to tbh. Also since i gotta do the wiring as well.

As it now stands though, only got 2 programs to manually converge ( i think). That's alot better then 40 allready.

Thank you guys for the help and support. This forum surely made my favorites.

Converting Mitsubishi programs is easy.

Freddy do you know there is a support tools for converting from A to Q ?
All you have to do in the software (GX DEV) is change PLC Type but there is a software tool which will compare both (A and Q) programs.

Converting from Q to R(FX5) should be easy enough as the FX5 supports the same programming instructions like Q and R.

haha Ron, so close...it's alstublieft.

I didn't know there are such programs gambit. I assume they come from Mitsubishi self.

The last step, converting to fx5 i don't see a problem there. It's getting the first step going.

I looked in changing plc type. In 1 program i can adjust the type. In the other i can't yet. Sadly haven't been able to look into the matter.

When maintenance slows down here, i can pick this up again.

To be continued...

The A-Q conversion software used to be a free download on their website, but I haven't looked in several years.
