Connect CJ1M to PC using RS422

9 posts in this topic

Hello,

I am using both ports on my CJ1M for NS screen and Bluetooth Dongle but need to connect the PLC to an end of line PC in order to log data. I have fitted a SCU31-V1 and so I have connected a CIF11 port 1 of the SCU31 and the card is switched to 4 wire for RS422. Not too sure how to wire the plug that goes on Com Port 1 of the PC. Has anyone ever used this type of formation before?

I will connect to the CJ1M using Host Link.

Regards

Peter

I normally use in RS485 configuration and you can buy an RS422/RS485 card for the PC. The SCU31 is 2 x RS422/485 - no need for a CIF11.

Just not sure how to wire the pc end and the card end Bob.

I normally use RS232 and a converter.

All in the manual for the PLC - for RS485 pin 1 is negative and pin 2 is positive. The PC end will depend on the computer card you buy.RS485.thumb.JPG.3094341959f2055705daf2a0

I am connecting using Hostlink Bob and I have read that I will have to use a 4 wire system RS422. Unless there is an easier way?

You can use RS422 - bi-directional and best way for Host Link.

The wiring is in the diagram above - a 422 PC card is not hard to obtain.

Crossover cable with send and receive - make sure polarity is correct.

Also turn the terminator on at both ends and select 4 wire for the port in the SCU.

denise01,

Reference section 3 of the W336 manual.

W336 Manual

It shows both 2 wire and 4 wire connection information.

Hope this will help.

Many thanks for your help but I have ordered a SCU21 card so will use a K3Sc converter and CIF11.

I know I could use a NT AL001 but hassle with 5 volt power supply etc
