Posted 16 Jan 2017 I don't think you can get the original programming software anymore. Here in the states you can pay an AB field tech to come in, but it's pretty expensive. I have run across at least a couple third party alternatives. They won't open original AB program files, but you can use them to upload, download, and program PLC2. Here's one option: http://www.softplc.com/products/migrations/oldtopdoc/
Posted 16 Jan 2017 The PLC-2/20 processor came with a programming terminal package; the PLC-5 was the first (I believe) to utilize a software package and a standard computer. These were bulky CRT-based suitcase computers, usually the first to be gathering dust (or tossed in the trash). http://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/pm/1772-pm001_-en-p.pdf http://www.plccenter.com/en-US/Buy/ALLEN%20BRADLEY/1770T1
Posted 16 Jan 2017 I saw one of those recently for the first time! My how times have changed. Nevertheless, the 3rd party options are still available, and they do run on modern computers. Or at least in DOS on Windows XP...
Posted 19 Jan 2017 If you can get your hands on a copy of ICOM or Allen Bradley 6200 software for PLC-2 and run it on a DOS based system, you may be successful. However, the communication could be dicey as DH/DHII interfaces may be few and far between though there are some legacy communications converters still floating around. 1 person likes this
