Adding BCD input to Micrologix 1100

I'm looking for diiferent methods of inputing alphanumeric data into micrologix 1100. One thought is BCD thumbswitch, but I'm not sure what interface is required, if any

We've managed to remove almost all of the BCD thumbwheels from our machines.  The ones we had were connected to PLC-2s or PLC-5s via a TTL input module.  They took an external 5VDC power supply.

I would look at the PanelView Plus 7 Standard line.  The 4.3" model lists for $667.  The similarly sized PV800 lists for $411, but I would rather pay more money to avoid CCW.  I would seriously suggest the Red Lion Kadet products, but we had some major hickups with them in production early on.  They may have gotten them sorted now, but we haven't tried them in a while.

Of course, I'm *assuming* that they can talk to the 1100 via Ethernet/IP.
