1.   Ideally you would use a 1763-NC01 breakout adapter, which correctly presents the necessary pins from the MicroLogix 1400 Channel 0 so they can be used by an RS-485 network.

Your pinout shown for the ML1400 Channel 0 shows the pins for RS-232, not RS-485.    Pins 1 and 8 are used for Data B and Data A (respectively) for RS-485 on the MicroLogix 1100 and 1400 controllers.   On the other MicroLogix controllers (1000, 1200, 1500) they are +24V and DC Common.

You can follow the wiring diagram on page 76 of the 1766-UM001 MicroLogix 1400 User Manual to connect Channel 0 of the MicroLogix to the AIC+ using MicroLogix pins 1 (Data B), 8 (Data A), and 2 (GND/Common).

2.   RSLinx Classic's 1747-PIC/AIC+ driver is an ancient, balky pig of a driver.   RA has been fighting it since Windows NT, and stopped supporting it at Windows XP SP3.

Microsoft made changes to XP SP3 that broke the RSLinx Classic 1747-PIC/AIC+ driver.    You can substitute the serial driver from XP SP2, which has been carefully curated by several automation guys on popular forums like PLCTalk.net.

3.  The modern alternative if you need DH485 is the 1747-UIC USB/DH485 converter.    It can connect to this network through one of the connections on the NET-AIC.

While the 1747-UIC can only be connected to one device directly over its RS-232 side, it can definitely connect to multi-node networks using AIC/AIC+ isolators.

Note that the 1747-UIC only supports 19200 baud, which is the speed used by 99.9% of DH485 networks.   You only need to use 9600 baud if you have an extremely long (4 kilometers or more) network.

Semper fi !

If It Could Be Done, Thanks Again Ken,  Sempter-Fi     1973 Hollywood Marine 0351 1stMarDiv FMF, GITMO. Later & Thanks Again.
