Posted 18 Jan 2016 Hello, we have 6 encoders and 2 of them lose their mac address every time power goes out. The other encoders find their Mac address by themselves. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks for reading. Have a great day.
Posted 18 Jan 2016 Just to clarify, the encoders are loosing their MAC address (super strange) or IP address? What is the part number of the encoders? If you mean IP is the IP configuration set to static or dynamic?
Posted 18 Jan 2016 It's almost certain that you have not properly disabled BOOTP/DHCP on these devices. But I agree; first thing you have to do is understand the behavior you're describing. "Losing" a MAC ID would be just as unusual as finding one automatically; they are fixed hardware identifiers and do not change and are not changegable except under very specific circumstances that almost always involve network devices like switches and routers.
