Loses MAC address every time power goes out.

5 posts in this topic

Hello,

we have 6 encoders and 2 of them lose their mac address every time power goes out.

The other encoders find their Mac address by themselves.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thanks for reading.

Have a great day.

Just to clarify, the encoders are loosing their MAC address (super strange) or IP address?

What is the part number of the encoders?  If you mean IP is the IP configuration set to static or dynamic?

It's almost certain that you have not properly disabled BOOTP/DHCP on these devices.

But I agree;  first thing you have to do is understand the behavior you're describing.   "Losing" a MAC ID would be just as unusual as finding one automatically;  they are fixed hardware identifiers and do not change and are not changegable except under very specific circumstances that almost always involve network devices like switches and routers.

I meant it loses its IP address.

I think Its part number is CEV-65M

How do i find out the IP configuration?

Thanks for the help :)
