Which Fluke loop calibrator?

5 posts in this topic

Looking to get a Fluke loop calibrator. The only only I've used personally is the 705. It works fine, but I really like the dial idea on the 707. ...then I realized that the 787 and 789 are loop calibrators plus more, seems like a lot more value there perhaps? Which one do you prefer and why? Also, I'm not quite sure I see much of a difference between the 787 and 789 other than the ability to use Fluke Connect on the 789?

I have the 787. It works great and makes the perfect all-in-one tool to lug around in your tool bag.

There is considerable differenc in the physical specs between the 787 and 789. http://www.fluke.com/fluke/tten/Process-Calibration-Tools/Loop-Calibrators/Fluke-787.htm?PID=56131 http://www.fluke.com/fluke/tten/Process-Calibration-Tools/Loop-Calibrators/Fluke-789.htm?PID=56133 The 789 uses 4 AA batteries instead of 1 9VDC battery. The 789 is nearly 50% heavyier and considerably larger too. IMHO, the the 789 is a better value but the 787 simpler to use and easyier to store. Edited by RussB

Good info guys, thanks. I didn't realize that the 789 is so big. That definitely is something to consider.
