Posted 23 Nov 2014 (edited) What is the operating system on your computer, if you do not have the correct one (WinXP SP2 or SP3 with modifications) you will not be able to use the 1747-PIC. The 1747-PIC can only be used on a real serial port not a USB-serial adapter. The drivers you require are in RSLinx. Posted 23 Nov 2014 The SLC 5/03s bottom port usually isn't configured for DH485 so you can use 1747-CP3 on it or for the top port a 1747-UIC which is the USB version of the PIC. Here's a video that goes through the cable selection http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zYIxtMliM_I Here's how to connect over the bottom serial port of the SLC 5/03 http://www.theautomationstore.com/allen-bradley-micrologix-connecting-to-the-plc-over-a-serial-port-or-usb-to-serial-adapter/ And finally since you ask about drivers here is how to download RsLinx which is needed for communications including drivers. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=12sNv4Ak9iI
Posted 26 Nov 2014 You will also need RSLogix 500 programming software with RSLinx communication software installed on your PC. Install both, start RSLinx, setup the communication port driver, verify connection, then you are good to go.

Posted 29 Nov 2014 I dont have drivers for 1747 PIC cable...... but my question is that it is possible to connect directly SLC 500 5/03 with 1747 PIC cable...? or i have to purchase some other converter or other cable....
Posted 29 Nov 2014 If you have RsLinx installed then you have the drivers. The PIC requires a real serial port. Do you have it? If so then follow these instructions. http://www.theautomationstore.com/how-to-configure-the-1747-pic-to-connect-to-a-slc-500-slc-5-01-or-slc-5-02/
Posted 30 Nov 2014 TWControls is correct...RSLinx and a PIC box both work best on a PC with a real (hard) serial port. You can use a USB to Serial converter, but RSLinx often is difficult to always get working properly with a converter. Does your PC have a real serial port? You started this thread requesting assistance with making a configuration. Now that you have all of the pieces together, what configuration change do you want to make? Connect the PIC box between your PC and the PLC processor; power up the PLC processor (if not powered up already); on the PC start RSLinx (which is probably running as a service); in RSLinx, select COMMUNICATIONS, select CONFIGURE DRIVERS; in the AVAILABLE DRIVER TYPES selection box, select the carrot (arrow); in the list of drivers, select RS-232 DF1 DEVICES then select ADD NEW button; accept the autonaming of this communication instance as AB_DF-1 by selecting OK; in the CONFIGURE RS-232 DF1 DEVICES pop-up, set COMM PORT to the communication port of your PC for this serial port; also in the CONFIGURE pop-up, select the PLC device type you are connecting to (SLC-CH0/MICRO/PANELVIEW); select the AUTO CONFIGURE button; RSLinx should auto adjust parameters of the communication instance and tell you configuration complete Once you can successfully auto-configure RSLinx communication, you are almost there to reaching your goal. Posted 30 Nov 2014 This is incorrect for the PIC. It requires very specific steps to make it work including running RsLinx as an application instead of its default service, creating a PIC driver type, and there is no auto-configure althought 99% of applications will be 19.2K. Here are the specific steps that must be followed to use the PIC. Again real serial ports, Win XP SP2 or earlier. http://www.theautomationstore.com/how-to-configure-the-1747-pic-to-connect-to-a-slc-500-slc-5-01-or-slc-5-02/
