wire markers

4 posts in this topic

Hi Everybody, I am looking for some information on some wire markers. Or am wondering if anybody has seen these for sale anywhere. The name of them anything? These are not any brady labels I have seen and have been searching for quiet a while. Used in a lot of Japanese and Taiwanese panels that come over. I do field service and also build panels. White, seems to be oil resistant and they slide over non insulated ring and fork terminals. These do not seem to be heat shrinkable either. Almost seems like PVC. They are shiny and the black print on it cannot be rubbed off. These are not vinyl, or self laminating. The closest thing I have found that may have a resemblance are if you do a Google search for KSS O-type cable marker. It may take you to KSS.com I have pictures from a job I recently did cannot attach but want to know where I could buy these or if you know what they are. Thanks!

A company I used to work for used special wire markers for certain panels. They were a tight coil of laminated paper with an overlapped split in them. The text was printed on the paper before it was laminated and curled. The split meant you could take them on an off the wire without disconnecting the wire from the terminal. I can't remember who we got them from, but we had to buy them special, which made it a real pain to deal with mistakes or changes. They were extremely durable and legible after years of grime buildup though.

You could try these: http://www.grafoplast.com/ We have used them in a steel mill. They are kinda labor intensive to make but they are the absolute best if a wire label needs to remain readable.

Hey Bill, I've also worked for a Japanese company and I know exactly what you are talking about. It is actually the PVC tubing that you can buy in a roll from Brady for example: http://www.bradyid.com/bradyid/pdpv/PVC-9.html The printer I've seen being used to print on these was a Brady91, apparently sold only in the Asian market - http://www.bradyid.com.sg/en-sg/bmp91-tube-label-printer--/fam-BRSG_PFBMP91-ES-BATT.html My company didn't have the printer, but had a hot-stamp marker. I think it was a Japanese made one, but I believe Brady might still make some as well. - Vasa
