Echo Automotive, Inc. www.echoautomotive.com April 15, 2013 JOB DESCRIPTION: Hybrid Systems Control Engineer The Hybrid Systems Control Engineer will provide technical leadership for engineering development, test, and validation of the hybrid systems control hardware and controller software. The position will require translating high level control algorithms and concepts into the model based control tools used at Echo Automotive and then test and validate the software through the use of HIL systems and robust validation methods. This position will also be responsible for the systems engineering for this Plug In Hybrid Vehicle Conversion system. This position reports to the VP of Systems Engineering / Chief Engineer. Key Responsibilities • Technical Specifications: Assist in drafting and executing , Battery Pack System, Traction Motor, Traction Inverter, Thermal system, Electrical System and Control Systems software technical specifications. These sub-system specifications will meet the roll-up objectives and targets of the vehicle kit technical specifications. • Provide technical expertise in the implementation of hybrid control strategies used in various hybrid and battery electric topologies. • Provide control system development for lithium ion battery management system • Provide hands-on setup and testing of controls systems on vehicles and through hardware in the loop (HIL) systems. Need to develop robust fault management and safety systems within hybrid control structure. Robust testing and validation of controls systems following systematic validation process. • Responsible to have working knowledge of vehicle system level hybrid controller and control algorithms. Will work closely with the hybrid system technical analyst and sub-system Product Design Responsible Engineers as systems are developed and implemented. • Design and implement hybrid system controls using model based control methods and code generation tools (Matlab/Simulink/MotoHawk) • Provide clear and succinct communication to VP of Systems Engineering / Chief Engineer and management staff. Skills Required • Strong understanding and technical knowledge in battery systems, electric propulsion, and hybrid control systems. • Must have excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. • Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink with MotoHawk desired. • Entrepreneurial experience in startup environment with ability to think "outside the box" and provide innovative solutions. • Capable of working in a startup environment requiring nimble adaptation to unexpected events. High tolerance of ambiguity with ability to lead others with clarity. • Presentation skills: proficient in verbal, written (including Powerpoint), and public speaking communication. • Excellent general engineering skills in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering disciplines.
