CX-One - Windows 7 x64

3 posts in this topic

We are moving to Windows 7 Enterprise Edition x64. We upgraded our users to CX-One 4.1 and everything installs OK. There are some programs, such as CX-Integrator, that don't work. Looking at the help documents, it says that to run the program, need the user to run the program as an Administrator. Our corporate policy is that end users are not Administrators on their local computer. For other applications, other than Omron software, we've been able to work around it by changing the permissions on folders or doing doing a Microsoft App-V (virtualized app) install. But App-V is not a candidate if the application requires drivers or accesses hardware, which is what CX-One does. Anyone have a workaround for getting all the CX-One applications working without requiring the user to be an Administrator on their computer? On Windows XP x32, we never had an issue after the drivers were installed as an Administrator, the programs worked with no issues.

Most industrial automation software has this requirement. I know Mitsubishi and Rockwell also want the user to have administrative rights.

If you are under a server structure, you can add group policies than when you start specific application they will run with Administrator credential, i had the same issue with AB software and ePLAN, and the IT solve it that way ...
