CX server OPC in run as service

4 posts in this topic

My company recently bought an Omron OPC software v2.02 . I want to invoke it via IHistorian collector and normaly work like charm when I am logged in ( Win Server 2003). But I want to achive that as service ( nobody log in ). According to Historian log the collector try to open the OPC but there are some failure . The local Ifix support suspect the Omron can't run as service . Anybody has any info about it ? the log file entry: [12/9/2010 1:37:11.359 PM] Initializing COM [MultiThreaded] [12/9/2010 1:37:11.375 PM] Error: (ihInterfaceInitialize) [[(OMRON.OpenDataServer.1) CoCreateInstanceEx [8000401a]]]

Hi, You're correct. CX-Server OPC is a Windows application and not designed to run as a Service Regards, BB

Hi TSI, You should check out the following topic on MyOmron: http://www.myomron.com/index.php?action=kb&article=1085 You can run the program automatically as another local or domain user. You provide the user account and password in DCOM settings. When CX OPC is invoked via DCOM it starts on that user. You may also want to check out http://www.opcfoundation.org/DownloadFile.aspx?RI=326
