ADVANTYS STB on m-340 CANOpen

3 posts in this topic

Merry Christmas & Happy new year folks. Thing is now I'm working on a project which has a M-340 PLC with remote IOs on Advantys STBs , connected on its CANOpen port. In particular, I've one island with 6 Nos ACI1400 modules(8AI) & 4 ACO0220(2AO) modules. Thus 48 analog inputs and 8 analog inputs need to get connected to the CAN-OPen system. I've so far learnt to use ADVantys Configuration software by means of which you can export a *.dcf file and another *.XSY file for use by Unity Pro. In the Unity-pro screen for the CANOpen drop. I can't co-relate the analog inputs with the active PDOs. For the above configuration, importing the DCF file into Unity-Pro results in the creation of 19 PDOs. Further, in the CanOpen Master configuration, Unity will not build unless 694 integers for inputs and 484 integers for outputs are allocated! To take care of this requirement, the Inputs are configured to begin at %Mw0 and outputs to begin at %MW700. In the PDOs created as above, PDOs 1-7 for inputs are for 8 bit digital input blocks 1-56. These have been alloted %mw311 through %mw366! Then the subsequent PDOs 8-19 contain 2-byte special input objects from 1- 48 which have been allocated addresses from %mw152 -%mw199. A similar incomprehensible situation exists in the Output zone PDOs, where the PDOs are just PDO-1 & PDO 2 which contain 2 byte special output objects numbered 1-8(ostensibly for the 8 analog outputs) which have been allocated addresses from %mw852 to %mw859. I don't know where to find the actual data for analog inputs! is it absolutely necessary to allocate 694 integers for inputs?? Another strange thing... things are not what they seem. I then export the XSY variable file from Advantys, having configured the inputs to begin at %Mw0 and outputs to begin at %MW700. The variables (Symbols given to the I/O image data in the advantys modules) when imported to begin at % MW29. The outputs begin at %mw700!. Shouldn't the AIs get addresses from %MW152 & the AOs get addresses from %mw852?? Will someone help me to join the dots of what is described above and thus to make sense of it all?? Sorry for posting on New-year week. Have a good time though. My best wishes for your happiness. Raj S. Iyer

Hi Boer, Thanks a million for the link, though as regards cricket, my hopes are quite the opposite of yours. But then by evening we'll know. However there are other ZA things I'm a fan of such as your Cape Wines & Wilbur Smith's books. Have a blast:-) R. S. Iyer
