Cable for Q00 CPU

7 posts in this topic

Hi folks. I need to do some programming upgrades on our Mitsubishi PLC, but I can't find the programming cable. (Interestingly enough, I -can- find the software CDs, which is just the opposite of our Toyopuc PLCs) Anyway, neither http://www.meau.com/ nor http://www.mitsubishi-automation.com/ seem to be making it easy for me to figure out exactly which cable(s) I can use. The document at https://my.mitsubishi-automation.com/downloads/view/doc_loc/5120/201288.pdf?id=5120&saveAs=0&form_submit=View+now seems to suggest that I can use either QC30R2 or QC30-USB. The port on the front of the PLC is a min-DIN. How are the cables from the store on this site? Would one of those be suitable? Am I better off using a serial cable, or do the USB ones work fine? Thanks, Greg

What model PLC is it? From your part numbers it sounds like you're dealing with a Q-series PLC. In that case, you need a SC-Q programming cable. There isn't anything special about it, it's just straight 232 9 pin to mini-din 6. The USB cables are standard USB cables that you can get at a radio shack if you need. Don't spend the extra money buying them from Mitsubishi. If the PLC you are trying to connect to is a FX or A then you will need a SC-09 programming cable, which is more expensive because it has a 232-485 converter built into it.

SC-Q and QC30R2 are the same cable. Clearly listed on www.meau.com for programming. http://www.meau.com/eprise/main/sites/public/Products/Automation_Platforms/Q_Series/default Click on the bar at the bottom labeled ACCESSORIES. Never heard of QC30-USB. Probably some knock-off cable with a USB to serial adapter in it.

I did spot that, but given the lack of other references to it on the web, I wasn't confident that's what I needed. The QC30-CPU is listed in a document from Mitsubishi, so I'm sure it's not a knock-off, but I'd suspect that it just has a USB-Serial converter built in. Thanks for you help, Greg

It's not mentioned in any documents from Mitsubishi available in the US. Maybe overseas somewhere, but I know some of the US tech support guys, and they have never heard of it. A1SH uses cable SC09. Which is serial, no Mitsubishi USB option exists for the legacy A Series. Q02 does not have a USB port. Q02H and Q02U do.

Pinouts for these cables are all over the internet, like www.meau.com for one.
