Rslogix 5000 Teamwork Options

4 posts in this topic

We are embarking on a new project soon and it will be using possibly rslogix 5000 v18.5 or (or v16.86). With a larger software team there is potentially going to be more than 1 plc Developer working on the same project at the same time. Is there any "Team work" software that will allow 2 developers to work on the same ACD File. The majority of our PLC code is written with in ADD-ON instruction and currently with RSLogix 5000 v16 we need to down load the complete project to the PLC to update a single addon. Other reason for sticking currently with version 16 is that we are developing system that use the RM & SRM (Redundancy Modules) not supported by version 17. Edited by andyhill

I have never seen this before, However I have worked on large projects like this and this is what we did. We made duplicate copies of the PLC programs and put them on a memory stick. Then had one person in charge of the 'master' program. This person would at the end of the day/week/or whatever time frame you set up, incorporate the changes into the master plc file. I know it creates a lot of work for someone, but we had the guy that was doing the HMI program, do this copy and paste function.

We have a separate computer that manages all plc, panelview, and etc. programs. Everything is saved by date. Anyone one outside of daily modifications such as corp electrical is to notify shift tech who manages daily changes so no more than one program mod happens at any given time. However things usually go smooth and the guy who hadn't assembled edits first usually will call complaining but then realizes that he didn't follow protocol.

What we did was to work ONLINE, to a spare controller. IMPORTANT - MAKE SURE that each programmer is working within his own PROGRAMs - (The controller divides into Task, Programs, Routines) - editing functions are segregated at the program level, so each programmer has complete independance doing Accept Edits etc. Police it carefully
