Shihlin Electric Model SEPLC PLC

14 posts in this topic

I have a Shihlin Electric PLC Model PEPLC. The model number on the front cover is followed by "A20 MR" hand written in red. There is one front panel light titled "PROG-E // CPU-E". The machine will not run and the light is blinking/flashing. I have a print out of the program but nothing else: no documentation and no way to reprogram it, if that's what's required. I'm looking for documentation and a way to program it. Or should I tell my boss it's a lost cause? Thanks for any help and or direction you can provide. Bob

Bob: Can you let us know the complete part number from the manuacturer's tag? Some Shihlin equipment is actually licensed Mitsubishi plcs. If I have the complete part number, I can possibly do the conversion and suggest a software/cable to use. Prog-E / CPU-E lights are usually programming errors (or possibly a dead back-up battery and therefore no program. A local Mitsubishi distributor or integrator may be able to help you (with the thought they might get the replacement business).

It should be printed on the side, where mitsus are. All they did, generally, was replace the F with an A. AX2N = FX2N, etc... I was told, by the manager of ShihLin, that they are the manufacturer for MEAU. Their stuff is exactly the same.

They are NOT a manufacturer for MEAU. MEAU is Mitsubishi Electric's support organization in the USA. If they were a manufacturer, they would be for Mitsubishi Electric corporate in Japan. My understanding on Shihlin is they ARE a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric in a different country. Just like MEAU is in the US. A-20MR would be F-20MR, which is so long obsolete you can't even find the programming consoles and serial adapters on eBay. It only programmed in MEDOC. And a flashing light indicates an error, most likely the battery died and the program was lost. Would recommend replacing it with an FX1S-20MR or FX3G-24MR. But if the program is lost, you're starting from scratch.

About Shihlin Company. Dear Crossbow, Please, take your attention that the articles (codes) of a lot of manuals from Mitsubishi, especially till last time, had the prefix SH (Shihlin) instead of J (Japan). Therefore, I think, Mitsubishi Electric and Shihlin Comany linked to more deeper relationships...

Inntele, The fact that some manuals from Mitsubishi begin with SH in the part number has absolutely nothing to do with SHIHLIN. For one, the Shihlin products were based on FX, and those manuals all begin with JY. The IB and SH designators on the manuals are on the A Series and Q Series. That is the way that the Nagoya factory designates their manuals. The Shihlin PLCs were comparable to the Himeji factory FX products. And as I said, I think Shihlin is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric. They are NOT a subsidiary or affiliate of MEAU. MEAU is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric as well. This is what I stated above. Please read my comments more carefully.

Thank you, Crossbow, for the detailed explanation. I am reading your comments carefully. For topicstarter. The Shihlin Electric & Engeeniring company has own division in USA, therefore you can talk with them. While I support Crossbow, that the best way is to upgrade PLC, the more so that the program was lost and now the controller become "useless iron".

I have Shihlin Electric's PLC model SEPLC. The front cover has "SEPLC Ax2-64MR" written on it. A front panel light is lit with the heading "PROG-E // CPU-E". And the machine is running. I have no backup of the program and no way to reprogram or download. Thanks for all the help and guidance you can give.

Md Salim.

You're going to need to hire a programmer to rewrite the code, you have likely lost the battery and the program.
