connection problem

hi i m a new user of OMRON MY laptop has no serial port so i used serial to usb changer cable but cx-programmer V4 can't connect to CPM2A why? this is software error or hardware error ? can i continue to use pls give me ways

Do you use CS1W-CIF31 ? This is the only official supported USB/RS232 converter for Omron. Others do work but can give problems.

first, when you install the usb to serial converter, you should check on which port it is installed (right click my computer, manage, device manager, ports), then in cx-programmer choose that port. since it is cpm2a i think you should choose sysmac way 9600 or 19200, not sure. anyway try that and also toolbus.

Which port are you trying to connect to? What cable are you using? Default comms would be Sysmac Way (Host Link) 9600, 7, E, 2

Also try disabling your internal modem and then reboot.
