2007 4-H Robotics Championship NASA TV Archive

6 posts in this topic

Here are videos from our 4-H robotics team in my town. I am certainly proud of all these high school kids, we had a GREAT SEASON!.. Chris, Though I am positive our Media Team got better championship videos than these, if by chance you want to see what was broadcast over NASA TV, I have complied a list of videos on the NASA archive. Some of these videos got chopped off, and most of them cut away before the end of the match was done, (which is when we preformed the best) so allot of action on our robot was missed. Also the alliance picking video is corrupt so you don't get to see Seth saying "We accept!" I also highlighted my favorite announcer quotes said during the video. Some of them made me chuckle or just plain proud of our team. Also the scores during the match aren't right, and none of the videos except the finals, show the final score.....oh well....better than nothing I assume. Right click and download each link. Need Windows Media Player to view files. VIDEO LIST: match 1 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...arc/arc_001.wmv "1501 on the defense..." match 18 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...arc/arc_018.wmv "Team THRUST and Cheif Delphi, two legendary teams in a pushing match" "Team THRUST deploying both their platforms, their dynamic end game lift" match 43 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...arc/arc_043.wmv "27, trailing a bungee cord..." (inside joke on Al Thorn, 1501 left our bungee cord on robot by accident) "Looks like we got a lifter v.s. a ramp bot." (Buzzer lift....yeah!!!) match 48 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...arc/arc_048.wmv "That's Team THRUST working, pushing trying to keep those spider legs shaking..." match 71 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...arc/arc_071.wmv "Team THRUST has their double lift deployed" (Great video shot of the deploy!) match 80 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...arc/arc_080.wmv (Another AWESOME buzzer lift!!!) match 90 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...arc/arc_090.wmv (doesn't show end game....video corrupt) Alliance Picking http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...liancepick2.wmv warning this one is: 131 MB (doesn't show 1501 getting picked....video corrupt) Quarter 3-1 http://www.soap.circuitrunners.com/2007/mo...c/arc_qf3m1.wmv "Ooooo almost had a flinger on the blue side" (That's Steve!) "1501 working on the backside, trying to take Hammond out of the way" (Great video shot of the deploy!) Ok, the links on that website aren't working anymore. So I uploaded the videos here: http://www.huntingtonrobotics.org/videos/

Looks like the kids had a blast! So what exactly do they have to work with to build these robots?

They get a KOP (kit of parts) that has spec'd motors, battery, on board compressor. But after that, they can do anything they want so long as they stick with the rules. They also spec the pnematic cylinders. Rules can be downloaded here: http://www.usfirst.org/community/frc/content.aspx?id=452 You'll want to download Section 8 "The Robot" for rules about the robot.

Cool. So the kids do all the engineering and you just assist them with questions they may come across?
