  1. Q03UDVCPU

I am new with PLC's and I am learning how to work with GX Works 2. I have two questions, 1st Question: Using a Q series PLC (Q03UDVCPU) Is it possible to convert the language of a project from ladder logic to structured text? 2nd Question: If I read a project from a PLC why is it always ladder logic? Is there any way to read out structured text?
  2. Hi I'm looking for Ladder Logic code that I could use for a plastic injection molding machine.  I am willing to purchase and/or modify existing code to meet our specifications.  We have lost the Ladder Logic out of the TI/Siemens Controller on our Newbury 100 Plastic Machine so we're looking at replacing both the PLC and the HMI interface with an Automation Direct Controller.  We have the HMI Basic Code for the Newbury but not the ladder.  I've pasted the manual below for our machine.  Any assistance would be much appreicated.  The manual was too large for me to post but I've posted a document with information about how we intend to upgrade which has a little information about the machine also. 3. Hello! I have a project where I need to use Allen Bradley PLC, it might be one of CompactLogic series. In scope of the project I need to transfer few real values to DirectLogic PLC that installed on customer side. DirectLogic PLC has installed ethernet card that support Modbus TCP, TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols as it says on automationdirect website. I start looking for Allen Bradley PLC that support Modbus TCP or TCP/UDP protocol and did find clear information. Could you help me to find out a way how I can pass the data to directlogic PLC from CompactLogic?   Thank you in advance!   Regards, Scotty
  4. MC protocol

Hello once again, before I'll dive into mitsu manuals, does anyone of you know if there is some special relay signaling that PLC (FX3GE) have lost communication via MC protocol? Thank you in advance
  5. Siprotec Relay 7sj62

I have 24 Siemens Siprotec relay(7sj62) which i want to communicate with Scadapack 330E (Schneider) on 103 Protocol. but every time I try to communicate it shows Slave device is failed to communicate. trying to communicating via serial (RS-485). What should i do..?? or do i need to communicate it with Siemens PLC..?? If so which PLC should use..??
  6. Hi..  someone please help me.. i'm working in omron CS1H-H CPU67 PLC. My struggle is I/O in one particular rung is not getting updated.  Note: the rung is consist of a P_On flag followed by a FB ; all I/O to the FB were correctly assigned. but the inputs inside the FB instance are not getting updated so that the output not updated. can anyone please help me....????   sorry for my poor english... thanks in advance.
  7. I need to run 4 exactly same devices with 4 different controllers. The logic for them would be exactly the same but the IPs and controller names would be different. Is there a way to do it using 1 project file? Basically whenever download is done the logic would be downloaded but the controller name/IP would be left unchanged. They will be connected to the same network so the IPs must be different. I am using 1769-L32E for these and all racks are set up exactly the same. Any ideas?
  8. Relay Digital signals

I have a CJ1M-CPU13. It will be used for a prototype and later if successful, a better PLC fit will be employed. This system does not have the ability to drive pulses for servo control. However, will this system relay a digital signal at ~1kHz? I also need the PLC to count the pulses, reset at 1000 and start again continuously and never miss an input pulse. I see that the published transactions give  <15 microsecond decision times. I would think it would be no issue. Thank you.
  9. Hi, I would like to provide the PLC control for a scenario where the temperature in a machine, heated by the two electric heaters, is controlled with use of 1 TCK and 2 s/s relays. Please see draft “plc4” sent attach. The TCK is fixed to the machine and is not in a physical contact with the heaters. Nominal temperature of machine is 200degC. The machine temperature tolerance is +/-2degC. This means that the heaters should be turned on when machine T drops to 198degC and turned off when T reaches 202degC.  For this moment I have created the start PLC diagram outlined on draft “PLC4”.  I am still learning PLC. Therefore, I would be very grateful for your opinion whether the PLC diagram shown on picture “PLC4”, in terms of the tools used (direct contact, direct coil, etc.) and their layout, is of proper design. I know that there is much more work needed to complete this task (e.g. set up of the variables, etc.). I am using Unilogic software. Please help. Regards
  10. Hi Everyone, I'm working on my first PLC program and I have gotten my hands on some ladder logic I'm trying to duplicate. I'm using SoMachine 4.1 and have started a new Ladder Logic diagram POU. I'm curious on how do I create internal contacts. EXAMPLE: 24v--------l START BUTTON l----------------( COIL A)----- --------------l COIL A CONTACT 1; attached to a real output, solenoid valvel-------------l COIL A INTERNAL CONTACT TO CLOSE l---------------- Are there standards for numbering and labeling? I'm seeing L and U inside coil contacts. Does this have an underlying meaning according to standard? Is there a RTO function inside SoMachine 4.1
  11. Hi everyone, I'm a newbie in the ladder logic programming languages. For my thesis project I've to develop a scenario but I'm stuck with the creation of a socket connection from the Modicon M340 PLC to a server for transfer continuous data given from sensors or similar. Does anyone have a sample program that could have such a functionality so that I can change it based on my needs? Thanks in advice for any further reply!
  12. Hello, I am currently working on programming my first sortation system.  Attached is a blue print of the in feed conveyors and their loadout lines.  As boxes merge together they will be scanned by the barcode scanner.  From there we will be told which lane each box must go down, from the WCS.   My question is, without encoders, what would be the best way to control this system? Counting the packages as they pass through the photoeye? Or setting timers?   Thanks, James Sorting Conveyor Layout.pdf

  14. Hi All, We have an old machine using a Mitsubishi Fxo-30MR/ES and I will be replacing the PLC with a FX3S-30MR/ES.  This old machine would power some led's on a panel mounted PCB using the PLC outputs.  The 24V from the PLC output would go to the PCB board where a resistor would drop the voltage for the LED.   This PCB is damaged I would like to avoid getting a new PCB made and instead power some panel mounted LED rated for 24V directly form the PLC output.  I guess these panel mounted LED have a built-in resistor.  Power consumption for the LEDs are 20mA at 24V volts.  The 24V power supply has plenty of capacity for this. Are there any issues with doing this? I have attached the spec sheet for the panel mounted LED (I will be using the 24V versions).   Panel Mounted LED.pdf

  17. Monitor alarm block

Hi all, I would like to monitor the status of my alarm word (MW100) and if any bit turns from 0 to 1 then an alarm signal should be generated, am new to siemens plc and am having a tough time accomplishing this easily. In omrom CX programmer its quite easy to do. Could anyone help me on this using ladder logic, all help will be deeply appreciated.  Regards, Ablex  PS: I'm using Step 7 V5.5
  18. Hi guys, I'm in the middle of a little university project, I'm attempting to implement a control system purely based on artificial intelligence. A neural network will be used to map the characteristics of a power plant. A fuzzy logic controller will be used instead of the conventional PID and finally a genetic algorithm will be used to tune the controller while the system is online. This is all simulated of course. Each of those AI's will be developed in Matlab. Only problem with that is, is it outputs the code in C or C++ (From memory). I would have to convert this to structured text (Based on Pascal). So to circumvent this problem I thought I would just directly interface matlab to the PLC (Schneiders M340).  My idea being, all the calculations are done in matlab which are then sent back to the PLC. However this presents me with a new problem of how I would be able to interface matlab to the PLC. If anyone has experience with this sort of connectivity, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Luchek

Which type of electrical panel is most reliable, give some idea about that ..?
  20. Hi, I am using syswin and i am doing an exercise on saving and moving data. My challenge is am monitoring temperature from a sensor and the range is -20'C to 100'C from the 4-20mA sensor, after conversion and testing for positive and negative the values are stored in D205. (I have done the conversion and testing for positive and negative values only assigning of bit 15 in D205 is left) The simple program has to turn on Bit 15 if the value is supposed to be negative. 1000 0000 0000 0001, a simple approach to telling us this is -1’C.  0000 0000 0000 0001, is telling us this is 1’C. Bit 15 is going to be our Sign Flag, so we have to ensure that if the temperature is positive then  Bit 15 = 0, how can we do this make Bit 15 of D205 = 0? If the temperature is negative then  Bit 15 = 1, how can we do this make Bit 15 of D205 = 1? How can i turn on this bit inside a data word? for negative i thought i could just add #8000 to the values after conversion then storing in D205 but for positive values how do i ensure that bit 15 is 0? How could you approach this? Am a bit stuck, all thoughts and ideas are much appreciated if possible you could add a snapshot from syswin or cx-programmer. I have attached the WTANK.SWP file which can be opened in syswin or cx-programmer. Look in block Main 8 Temp Buffer, Network 3 Convert to 'C WTANK.SWP
  21. Enable bit in function block

There are a lot of instructions in function block that are missing the enable input that is present when programming in ladder logic, such as  ADD or MOV.  It seems to be very limiting. The only way around it that I know of is to write your own function block in ladder logic or statement list and use that. I seems rather limiting of a language if it relies on other languages for it to be usable. Does anyone know why the enable bit was left out in many function blocks when it is so useful in ladder logic? Pat
  22. Hello, I have a remote io cabinet with a rack of Siemens ET200isp. This was chosen because the almost all of the equipment connected to it comes from the hazardous area and is Ex ia. This presents me with a problem because I have two pumps that I need to turn on and off with this rack, and I cannot drive a contactor with intrinsically safe io for 2 reasons: 1. The power output is too low to pull in a contactor 2. There would be no barrier to separate the intrinsically safe wiring from the 'safe area' wiring containing the 3 phase for the motors. Output card is a 4 F-DO Ex 17.4V/40mA (6ES7138-7FD00-0AB0) My original plan was to use a Pepper and Fuchs KFD2-SR2_Ex2.W on the output of the Siemens DO card to provide a safe area dry contact that I can use to power my contactor. This did not work however as the KFD2-SR2 is not designed to be connected to an active current source, so both the IO card and the barrier were trying to power eachother and switching was not possible. I can get it to work if i power a standard 24v relay from the DO card, however this does not solve the problem of properly isolating the hazardous area wiring from the safe area wiring as a relay is not an intrinsically safe barrier. I can put a zener barrier in line with the coil of the relay however this cuts the power down too much and the relay contacts do not reliably pull in. I'm asking if anyone has any ideas, we are beyond the point where installing a new IO rack that is non-ia is an option, it would require a whole new cable run for the profibus. Is there such a thing as a relay that can be powered by the intrinsically safe output? I hope that is enough detail, please feel free to ask if more info is required. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  24. Mitsubishi PLC

Dear all,    I need to develop a PLC program for cycle operation. The logic is as follows : When I/p 1 is ON o/p1 should ON, with a time delay o/p2 should ON ,like wise four outputs should ON , if stop button is pressed the output should stop at the current position ,them again if start is pressed it should resume with that output . Can anyone help me with this logic ?? I am using Q03UDE Cpu..Thankyou.
