  1. Searching the forum did not provide me with any useful results. If there is another post with an answer, my apologies. I had ran into an issue with a 1769-L32E processor running out of memory a couple of times. Is there any software or easy ways to analyze an entire RSLogix 5000 project and show how much memory programs, routines, UDTs, AOIs, etc. are using?  Ideally I would like to be able to find what components of the project is taking up so much memory quickly since our company standard is to use UDTs and there is a lot to look through. Thank you!

Hello all, I have the need for PLC to calculate a giving time shift pattern, so if I start Monday 8am on a 24h prod basis, and the production run is 48h, the PLC should tell HMI finish time is Wednesday 8am, that is ok, the problem is, Production stops from Saturday 8 am, and starts again Monday 8am. Thus if I start prod run on Friday 8am, PLC should tell HMI (Got2000), production finish time should be Tuesday 8 am. I can read RTC, compare, do maths, but how can I miss or not take into account Saturdays from 8 am till Monday 8 am...that is my problem.   Any thoughts, ideas, are all welcome. Thanks.
  3. hello, I want to ask, maybe some of you know about this, I want to take a program on compactlogix but it has a firmware version 19.xx while the rslogix application I have is version 21.xx, there are several options offered by the application to be able to take the program, update the firmware in compactlogix or downgrade the rslogixku application to version 19.xx. if i upgrade the firmware in compactlogix, what about the program is the program safe or not, and if i upgrade the firmware will the program in compactlogix work properly?
  4. Hello all,  There are two pressure gauges in a line with a flow of water. The flow is controlled by the pumps which is controlled by the PID whose control variable is pressure gague -2 . In ideal condition the pressure gauge -2 remains at 55 psi and pressure gauge -1 stays at 82 PSI. But in the line if someone opens a manual valve then pressure gauge - 1 reads 100 psi because the pump is running as per pressure gauge 2 . Is is possible to clamp the PID so that pressure gauge 1 remains at 82 psi.    FYI: Pressure gauge 1 is right after the pumps and pressure gauge 2 is at the end of the line. 
  5. Hello all,  I have a temperature sensor with a reading range of 10F to 212 . The input card I am using is an Allen Bradley 1734 IE8C 8 Channel Analog current input. The current input values are 4-20 mA. Currently I have my raw low at 4000 and raw high at 20000. Can anyone explain how do we go about selection of this values ? I found these values in the configuration tag of the input card properties.  Thank You 
  6. So im looking for recommendations on a safety PLC application, and I'd like some advice. So the addiction is zero motion detection, were using a 5069-L306ERMS2, 5069-IB8S, 5069-OBV8S. What id like to know if its feasible and safe. Can a zero speed detection code be written and safe in a PLC? I mean you can buy a zero speed detection safety relay, and two generic sensors , one PNP, and one NPN, and its just watching the pulses to happen in a predetermined manor and that both transition in the correct manor and that they both stop. So why or why not do this in a PLC? Any advice on how to do it, and considerations or advice?  What are peoples thoughts and or advice?
  7. Good Afternoon, I am wanting to do two things with and ORMON PLC and HMI with CX-Programmer and NB-Designer. 1. I want to display the current time from PLC on HMI with the real time clock. 2. I want to be able to enter a time on the HMI which will be compared to the PLC time and will stop a process when when the entered time is equal to the actual PLC time.  If I can have some help with this that would be a great help.   10. RSLogix5000 Transfer function Bumpless transfer between two inputs. If criteria or FLAG is true, then transfer from input-1 to input-2 at a prescribed ramp rate, and then release the output to match the selected input without rate restrictions.  Issue: The issue is that upon the status of particular input (FLAG), the control valve demand jumps from 0 to whatever the output of the PID’s Low Select value is (maybe 50% or 80% or other). Request: Ideally, I would like to mimic or replicate the Transfer algorithms provided in other control systems, as described below . The TRANSFER algorithm performs a transfer between the two inputs.  The output is equal to the IN2 input if the digital input FLAG is TRUE, and the IN1 input if the digital input FLAG is FALSE.  The algorithm automatically performs a bumpless transfer between the track input and the selected input when a tracking request is removed.  The algorithm ramps to the selected input (IN1 or IN2) at the specified track ramp rate (TRR1 or TRR2).  Internal tracking may be selected to allow a bumpless transfer between IN1 and the IN2 inputs.  Individual track ramp rates may be initialized to ramp from the IN1 to the IN2 and from the IN2 to the IN1.   11. Hello, I have a Sysmac project that contains two NJ controllers and an NA HMI. I am writing the current time to different variables upon completion of certain actions using the system variable _CurrentTime.  I noticed that one controller was logging the date as 1-1-1970, and went to sync the clock with my computer's clock via the Controller-> Controller Clock... menu.  Upon synchronizing and applying, the controller clock very briefly displays the correct time, and then reverts to 1-1-1970. I went to the second controller in the project, which simply had the wrong time zone setting, and attempted to change the time zone and apply. Whereas before it showed the correct time for the time zone setting, it now reverts constantly to 1-1-1970 as well. When I go online, I've also noticed the _CurrentTime variable is not incrementing; it is always 1970-01-01-00:00:00.00. The HMI displays the correct time, and I am considering creating a mapped tag that shares this time with the controllers, but was curious as to what could be causing me this issue. I am also aware that 1-1-1970 is the unix epoch. Any insight?

  14. Hi guys, I just starting to use Sysmac Studio. Its a bit confusing as I am currently used to CJ series PLC. Usually, we can use P_1sec, P_0_2s and so on to create a simple clock pulse timer function. However, I couldn't find the command or FB to do that in Sysmac Studio. Anybody could explain on how to do that in Sysmac? Thanks

  16. Omron CP1E Clock adjustment

    I'm working on a project with Omron CP1E-N30DR-A Plc (And yes it does have the timeclock) And Omron NB7W-TW00B HMI I'm trying to use the Clock adjustment DATE(735) feature in the Plc program. In conjunction with the HMI to correct the time. Only focused on the Plc program for now. And presume I can accomplish the HMI portion once Plc program is working. Been fumbling with the Instruction manual descriptions several days and seems I'm not getting anywhere. Is there a possibilty to find an example program for this feature somewhere online? Or could someone possibly create an example program? I realize I might have missed some key information things in this topic. But lets see if I get any response at all.
  17. Hello,  I have 30 recipes(g_Blend_Recipes) and want to search for an item number in the recipes and compare it with what the operator enters on the HMI. The recipes itself is an array and there are 5 item numbers in each recipe. I read about the FSC instruction but did not figure a way out yet. I am attaching a picture of the recipe. Any help would be appreciated.

  19. Hell PLC World! I have been trying for several weeks in my spare time at work to tune an Allen Bradley Servo Motor.  Below is the list of hardware I am currently using: - CompactLogix Motion Controller (1780-L33ERM) - Kinetix 350 Driver (2097-V34PR5-LM) - MPL Series Rotary Servo Motor (MPL-B310P-MJ74AA) I have been using RSLogix5000 for testing and I plan to use it to develop a simple conveyor type program later.  I have tried a list of things which will be below, but to no avail, I cannot simply jog the motor for any period of time without triggering a position, velocity or bus voltage error.  I have tried changing the motor, driver and feedback cable to no avail.  Here is the process I have used: 1) Add the hardware to RSLogix5000 (PLC, Driver and Motor) 2) Configure the motor 3) Run the hookup test.  This works flawlessly.  The motor will slowly turn independently on the feedback test for as many revolutions as I input.  This is what makes me think I am doing something wrong in the tuning process. 4) Run autotune process with the velocity, acceleration and jerk set well below the limits of the hardware.   5) Attempt manually control motion 6) Recieve error I have tried changing the input from trapezoidal to S-Curve, changed velocity and position limits, manually tuned velocity gains in a myriad of configurations.  I have swapped legs on the 3 phase input (which made matters worse). I suppose it is possible that multiple pieces of hardware are faulty because this equipment was previously used, but I still cannot wrap my head around why the hookup test would work so flawlessly, yet I cannot just get the servo to rotate at an equivalently low speed. If anyone recognizes my mistake, I would be eternally grateful.  I am an intern studying control systems in graduate school and as popular as AB is, I would sure like to get some experience with it.  Thanks in advance!

  21. Hello - I am currently setting up a program to control a downlane conveyor motor and ran into the issue of operators leaving the conveyor on through their breaks/at the end of the shift.... I know, shocking . Anyways, the essentials of the program are the following - ladder logic, start/stop PB station, a sensor that says when I've seen a box for x-amount of time I will turn off, when the eye is clear for x-amount of time I will turn back on. When trying to 'solve the problem' of the operators leaving them on, I figured this would give me a chance to use a RTC (real time counter) and program it so that at various times of the day I will send a single shot to verify the relay is CT is open. I've enabled the RTC on the Micro810, dropped a TOW but do not really understand how to set the TOW block up. Hopefully that all makes sense. Thanks,  grubb

I am using a Prosoft PLX82-EIP-PNC profinet-/ethernet-ip gateway as a median to allow me to access the profinet data. In RSlogix5000, I have created an EIP Class 1 connection for the profinet controller and AB PLC (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The same structure is created in the profinet controller (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The profinet gateway and PLC are communicating properly. From my profinet slave device, I have a specification that the data is structured within a 23 byte format. Connecting to my profinet gateway, I can see this data. I have attached an image that shows the specification of the profinet data and the data values displayed inside the profinet controller. From the PLC side, I'm needing to be able to see this data and put it in meaningful values. I am using the profinet slave device's internal temperature as an example to work towards. I'm not sure the best way to be able to handle this data and structure it to a meaningful value inside the PLC. (I am using the device's internal temperature as an example to try and get into the PLC).   Thanks,

  24. Hello I have a problem with dl-ep1 ethernet modul. I connected the module to a IL-1000 sensor amplifier. There is some problem with the communication. How should I adjust ? I made some pic about the trouble. The sensor is a IL-600 laser distance sensor. I dont know yet how can I get the actual value.  Anybody knows how to set this modul ? If I think correctly after the right setting, if I check the sensor output:0 then, I can see the actual value of the IL-600 sensor. But unfortunatelly this part also not so clear for me, because I can connect about 15 sensor this ethernet modul.  Thank you so much if anybody help.
  25. Client is wanting to use a 1734-AENTR with I/O and what not. When I go into the hardware tree to add I/O, its grayed out to add a new module to the hardware tree. JUST for this critter though, has anyone else experienced this?
