  1. Hi, I've been writing several programs in CCW using Micro800's and PanelView 800's. Several times now, the font sizes of every single element in every single screen changes. The first time it happened, the font sizes, border widths and corner radius' changed to 440. The second time it happened, only the font sizes seemed to change to 8 - but not on the starting screen. It has once again happened, except this time every element is font size 8 and corner radius 7 - except the second screen which appears unaffected. I am using a default font size of 14. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I don't think it should be relevant, but I am using a virtual machine and sometimes open multiple projects with different screen sizes. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!
  2. I am creating the project with Connected Components Workbench, adding the panel. It will not create the folder three to the project. I have the standard version. How to program it now?
  3. Hello, I have a .PBW file in an obsolete PanelView that I need to troubleshoot, but I can't open it.  Called AB TechConnect for support, but tech said it was too archaic and he, essentially, needed to start with a Windows98 machine and PanelBuilder 32 to even begin.  FactoryTalk doesn't know what to do with it.  File is attached.  Any suggestions/assistance is much appreciated ABWWTP.PBW
  4. Hi everybody... I have a Panelview C400  that was running OK, but CCW asked me to upgrade the firmware. After download the new firmware, and follow exactly the flash procedure, the HMI reboot, make the autotesting and then keep in boot without load the SO... How to reset to factory defaults?? or downgrade the firmware?? or anything to help me to solve this issue??? Thanks in advance... Yony
  5. I'm upgrading from a Panelview 550 to a Panelview Plus 600, I already have the HMI files converted. The PLC is a SLC 5/03. I found this post, I am wonder if there is other options besides using a 2711P-RN3. A quick Google seems like it's obsolete, but I am waiting to hear back from a sales guy. http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=105902 I am wondering if I should be able to use the rs-232 serial port DF1 full duplex.
  6. My SLC 5/04 is currently connected to a PanelView 1000 having only the RS-232 and using the SLC's bottom RS232 Port.  The PanelView Cable we can disconnect and connect a laptop, go online and troubleshoot problems, BUT we have to disconnect the laptop and reconnect the PanelView to operate the machine. Question:  Which of the other two Ports on the 5/04 could I use for the laptop connection leaving the PanlView connected? Also what cable to use on the 8-Pin Programming Port or the 3-Pin DH+ Port?
  7. I have an old PanelView 1000 catalog number 2711-K10G1 that needs to be replaced, I don't want to replace it with another panel view 1000, I want to get a panelview plus, the problem is that the Panelview is connected to a PLC-5 and it's connected by DH+. The only thing I can think of is to use an 1761-NET-ENI to connect the PLC-5 to ethernet/IP...but even the ENIs are discontinued by Allen Bradley. Are there any panel views that have data highway?
  8. Looking for PanelView suggestions

I have a customer that insists on me using a panelview for his project and I have basically no experience with them. I have been using another brand exclusively for many years so I'm well versed in how to use an HMI, just not Allen Bradley. I'm hoping to get some advice about which unit to use. The system is a simple waste water facility and the controller will likely be a micrologix 1400. The customer wants something in the 15" range. Looking on the AB website I see Plus 6 & Plus 7 both seem to give me that size. Are major differences that I should know about? thanks
  9. Hello I would like to first let everyone know I am new to the world of troubleshooting or programming plc's . What we have is a SLC500 system that is connected to a Panelview 1000 HMI via the DH+ network. The issue we have is the panelview displays a gate that is suppose to be closed at as gate fault. When i connect to the plc the ladder rung shows that the gate is closed. To show various positions of the gate the programmer used N13:70 as gate opened and N13:71 as gate faulted and N13:72 as gate closed. When i checked the logic it showed the bit N13:72 as engaged or true if you will. This logic is in the ladder rung that is labeled PV Status which i take is the status the HMI reads so my question is why does it show GF when it should be reading GC. Ive searched all through the logic and it doesnt appear to be wrong here is the logic the best I can simulate it  ladder 6 rung  53  instruction is  XIC O:13.0/11 and OTE N13:76/0 (Gate Open ) and the branch is XIC I:5.0/11and OTE N13:76/1 (Gate Fault) next branch is XIC N13:3/11 and OTE N13:76/2 (Gate Closed which this section is green or highlighted or true which ever you like) when i looked at the input XIC N13:3/11 this is what I found is that this XIC is on ladder four rung10 and has the following XIC T4:154/DN and branchoff that is XIC I:5.0/11(gate opened)XIC I:6.0/11(gate closed) which these two inputs are false or not lighted the output is OTL N13:3/11 and it is true which makes the previous rung true showing the gate closed. So why is the panelview showing the wrong position. I even went as far as resetting the HMI and the PLC so if anyone has a helpful hint I would greatly appreciate it.
  10. details: panelview (2711P-RDT15C) connected to "switch A" (ntron p/n: F-716TX) "processor A " (1756-L62) is connected to "switch A" "processor B" (1756-L73S) is connected to "switch B" (ntron p/n: F-716TX) "switch B" is connected to "switch A" I'm trying to use a single panelview to communicate to 2 separate PLC processors (separate chassis). When I go to add the shortcut in factory talk I find the "processor B". When I connect my laptop to  "switch A" I can see every thing in RSlinxs.  Any one experience this issue or know how to make this setup work? Maybe there's a switch setting that is not allowing RSlinxs enterprise in the PV to see both processors?
  11. Hello, my AB HMI panel view plus 600, when I power it only the comm green light comes on, the touch screen does not come on, any help I will appreciate thanks.
  12. I have a Panelview model 2711-T5A20L1 that the IT Dept. tells me has SNMP Protocol active. They want it turned off. Is it possible, does the device need this protocol? If it's possible to turn it off, how? I have search the knowledge base on AB.com and found nothing. I have done a search of PDF manual for "SNMP" and turned no results.
  13. I am trying to upload program from panelview 600 with a windows xp pc using true serial port. The HMI has device net and rs232 port I am using straight rs232. Is there any set up or can i upload from the memory card attached to hmi. The HMI has a glare and display is not visible, we are trying to upgrade to panelview plus. Thanks  Model 2711-B6C10x FRN 4.48
  14. I have some old Panelview plus displays (version5) that are not being used.  I would like to set them up to communicate with some version 30 PLCs for some basic indication (nothing important).  I know the hardware version won't support it communicating in the standard way, but has anybody been able to set up generic communication for something like this.  I hate for the displays to go to waste, but AB will just tell me to buy a new display.  I figure there has to be a way to communicate to the display with MSG statements or something.  This isn't for a specific project, just trying to not watse displays that we have.   Thanks.
  15. I am trying to read data from a Micro 850 into my L18 (V 30.11). I have never set up an ethernet bridge between these 2 components and i have been up against a wall since starting. I have the MSG blocks in my routine but i am obviously configuring either the bridge, MSG instruction or something wrong. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!
  16. I got into a project were they have 20 panelviews plus 1500 around the building, and they want to be able to serrate the displays accessible by the users based on the physical location of the panelview, for example Room1 should not see room2 but can see room3, at this moment we have a complete application with all the screens that have been downloaded to all panelviews, in order to avoid maintain 20 different ME applications I would like to ask if any of you had this problem before or any ideas on how to go forward with it.   Thanks
  17. Hey, this is probably a stupid question, but how do I delete old FactoryTalk View Programs. They are the ones that I have uploaded from a PanelView Plus via the "Transfer Utility" and then restored runtime using the "Application Manager". I open up FactoryTalk View Studio and I can see a list of all the runtime applications or I can create a new one. My question is, where are these applications stored by default? I have a bunch of old ones and test programs that I want to delete that are just cluttering up my list. I attached a screenshot to show you exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks, I'm sure this is a pretty easy/ dumb question. Howard
  18. A couple of mounths back a posted about the need to replace a no longer available panelview550. I got allot of good feedback and decided to go with a panel from EZ automation and the DH485 network protocall. Last week I installed my new EZ3 touchscreen and debugged over a couple of days, Overall I am happy with the product and the operators seam to like it (the graphics are allot bigger and in color).  I wonder if the EZ automation screen will last 17 years like the Panelview? I am down to 1 problem that i have not been able to resolve, the machines have parts counters on them that display the  number of parts produced since they where last reset. I am using C5:00.acc and so forth for the display tags and reseting with a B:3 bit. The parts counters count and reset like they should but the problem is that they do not retain the count totals when the power is turned off at the end of shift. Looking for advice on making a retenative timer
  19. Is it possible to communicate from a PC program to PLC program for reading inputs and setting outputs? How can it be made ? is it possible to do from TER connector or AUX connector , without special comm module?
  20. Hi there, I'm wanting to connect a panelview 800 to an SLC5/03 the SLC is connected to an 1747-AIC which is run to another 1747-AIC. I'm trying to figure out what cable I require to connect the peripheral of the second AIC module to the panelview. I can't seem to find any reference online. Any help would be appreciated. Image attached to clarify.
  21. I'm trying to connect a 2711-K5A8L1 FRN 3.13 PanelView 550 (DH+ three wire connector) to a 1747-L553 SER C REV C (RS232 and ENET). I read that I may need FRN 3.3 on the PanelView 550 to do a passthrough. This will be a dedicated connection with no other devices. The PanelView 550 has only the three wire DH+ connector and an RS232 printer port. I was trying to connect PanelBuilder 32 to the RS232 port and may only have PRINT and DOWNLOAD capability on this port. Is there an inexpensive way to connect the PanelView 550 and the PLC CPU? Something like the 1761-NET-AIC would be fine, but I did not see an option for DH+  .
  22. We've purchased an Autoclave at auction with CompactLogix L32e and PanelView Plus 1000.  With the help of some forum members and a local engineering company we have the machine finally working! I'm looking for some advise as to how to train users for standerd operation.  For example:  Their is a toggle switch on the front which powers on everything (PanelView, processer, switch, etc).  We close at 5pm each night.. Should we Power down the machine each night, or leave it on? Another user mentioned a battery and I was a bit confused with the manual. With the machine off, Is the PLC only holding the program because of the battery?? I have backups of the following.. (.acd, .apa, .mer) files.  I also have created a Disc Image of the Internal Flash card on the PanelView.  Is their anything else I should have a backup of? Their is a CF card in the PLC.  It has a folder called "Logix" and one called "System Volume Information"  In the Logix folder is  a CurrentApp folder with a .bin and .p5k file.  Does anyone know what exactly these are doing?? Any other advise is greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much for your time.
  23. Hi everyone, Recently, I started working with the Micro820 Controller Embedded I/O. My project is simple : when the output _IO_EM_DO_00 is set to true, an LED light turns on. But, even though it's super simple, I can't make it work. Here's my setup. If you need more information, feel free to ask anything !
  24. We have a sterilizer w/ Allen Bradley controls which we bought at auction.  It has a panelview plus 1000.  It came with a CD containing .mer and .apa files.  I was able to load the .mer file via the configuration screen by using the external CF card.  When I run the application, their is a login button in the bottom right which when pushed brings up a user/password screen.  We do not know the user/password for this.  Is it possible to find the password by somehow reviewing the files.  We do not have any software, and do not want to make any changes to the program (rather than changing the password).  I've attached the files in case anyone can help. Also, was i correct to load the .mer file??  or should I be using the .apa?  I followed these instructions here. http://www.judiwa.com/2010/10/05/how-to-copy-panelview-plus-application-with-compact-flash-card/ Thanks for your time PA1525_PVP1000.mer PA1525_PVP1000.apa
  25. Hi everyone ! I have a little project wich involves communication between two Micro820 controllers via TCP/IP. To do that, I started to work with TCP/IP socket. Within CCW (Connected Components Workbench), I tried to create a new socket instance using the instruction SOCKET_CREATE and set the socket address to 127.0.0.1:21. Basically, my computer through the FTP port. The problem was that it couldn't create a new socket instance (error variable is set to TRUE and status is set to 4, wich I don't know the meaning) because I didn't have a server-side application that listens to TCP/IP socket requests. That said, I found an open source application called SocketTest that listens for TCP/IP socket requests on a specified IP address and port. So, I started a listener on the following address : 127.0.0.1:21, but the error variable is still set to TRUE and status is still set to 4. So, my questions are : Is my IP address OK ? Is my port number OK ? What means the status code 4 ? Is SocketTest doing what I think it does ? Do I need to do something else before using the SOCKET_CREATE instruction ? Thank you in advance for your help !
