  1. Good day, I´m helping with small project and currently i am stuck because of this problem. And I hope you can help me out. I´m using PowerFlex 525 connected with AB CompactLogix 1769-33ER PLC via EtherNet/IP. Connection is working, I can read and write values from/to 525. To configure both devices i´m using RSLogix 5000. 1) First problem occurs after I loaded configuration to 525 and it´s, that 525 keeps overwriting values of Accel and Decel Time 1. It happens when i directly change parameters in Module Properties (online) or after I upload configuration to device. It happens even if i set parameters directly to 525 with its HMI panel. - I kinda get around this problem when i use Accel/Decel Time 2 for Step logic, but if i send direct reference value motor still jump to it and that is not good, especially when changing direction of rotation. 2) Second problem is that I cant get Speed Sources and Start References right. Usually Is working only option 1 and others are not, or they are doing something else that they should. For better imagination this is what i want to do: I have 3-state switch (left = 1 ON(DigIn TrmBlk 02), 2 OFF; center = 1 OFF, 2 OFF; right = 1 OFF, 2 ON(DigIn TrmBlk 03)), In center position I want to control 525 with EtherNet (already working when: Start 1 AND Speed 1 = EtherNet/IP). In left position I want to control motor directly with Drive Pot and In left position a want to start Step Logic (which i have already set) - Funny thing, If I set Start 1 = Ethernet, Speed 1 = Step, Start 2,3 = DigIn, Speed 2,3 = Drive Pot then in all three position motor goes in Step logic.. Or when i get left and right position working then Ethernet is blocked.. and this kind of things.. I Attach print-screen of my current settings, if you need something more just, tell me. Thank you for your time, and I hope someone will be able to help me.
  2. Greetings, Panelview Plus has a print screen capability, usb and ethernet. I thought this may be an easy way to print a report without using a PC. Simply create a screen with a report format and issue print screen command. Will this work? on a PV Plus 6, 10" screen, how will this look on a printed sheet? does it format to fit and fill the 8.5 x 11 sheet? Or would it just print a little 640x480 rectangle on the sheet? Anybody tried this? thanks!
  3. Hi guys, I have a problem with GX IEC Developer 7.04, i hope some of you can help me. When i try to connect with the PLC type - Melsec FX1s- 30MR-DC, there is an error: I check all COM port settings, and everything is ok. Com_port parameters: FX Parameters: Transfer setup: PLC Type in the program is the same like physical one (FX1s). I try to change all of this stuffs but there is no result. The cable I use for comunnication is this type: Thank you very much in advance. Have a nice day! eng R. Bukov
  4. Hey All, I am trying to do some data storing on a PanelView+ and the built in data logging doesn't quite fit my needs. I was looking into the possibility of creating my own ActiveX control for doing this. Is it possible to create custom ActiveX controls for Factory Talk? If so, are there any tutorials for doing so you recommend? Also, are there any sites that have custom ActiveX controls to download? I realize this may not be the easiest thing to do, but if I could create my own I could use it for various machines and would make things a lot simpler in the long run. Thanks
  5. Hey guys, so for a while I've been wanting to get a little PLC for home that I can play with and just have some fun with. I don't know exactly what I will do with it, I mean I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Minneapolis, so I don't exactly have a large workshop to set up projects, but maybe some home automation type stuff. I'll probably set up a little test board with din rail and terminals and just mess around with it when I get bored. Anyways... so I wasn't sure what to get. I've always liked Allen Bradley, but the licenses are so expensive, obviously. But now with my current job I have to take my laptop home in case someone needs support on one of our machines, so I have RSLogix5, 500 and 5000 software/licenses installed on my laptop, so I can just use that. So I was looking at my options. I was thinking about getting an Aurduino or Raspberry Pi, but I kind of wanted to stay with Allen Bradley since that is what I use at work, and I may as well learn as much as I can about that. Well anyways, 2 nights ago I had a few too many drinks after work and I was browsing eBay for used PLCs and I bid on/won a MicroLogix1000. It seemed like a good idea at the time, it says its fully functional, it has free shipping is only $85, and since I already have the software... So what are your guys' thoughts on the MicroLogix1000? To be specific, the one I bought was the: 1761-L32BWA MICROLOGIX-1000 Besides the software and the computer cable, is there anything else I will need? I don't need expansion cards with this, unless I want, because it has i/o built into the controller, correct? I will just need a 120VAC and 24VDC power supply? Thanks!
  6. CPU 314IFM adress

Hi, I have a CPU 314IFM order number 6ES7 314-5AE10-0AB0 when i select it in hardware config it show I/Q adress 124 -155 while it should be to 129 only (the manual mention that and it covers all inputs and outputs and the special funaction also) I try (offline) to change the order number only (another 314IFM) found it give different address range for each CPU while it all have 20 DI/16DO 4AI and 1AO
  7. Hi all, So this is more of a theory / how would you attack this problem, question: I'm creating my first HMI and while playing around in FactoryTalk View Studio I noticed I can add objects to a screen. I can add a browser and with some work I can get it to display an HMTL file directly in the screen. So the browser in this case is opening a file stored locally, not something served up from the internet. Which opens up the question, could I write most of my HMI in HTML and Javascript? As a previous developer having the ability to control more of the UI would be amazing and perhaps easier to use/maintain. The only pitfall that I haven't been able to figure out is how to get real time values from the PLC. I'd welcome anyone's input on the idea in general or if someone knows a good method for getting/setting values from the PLC. Thanks!
  8. Hello all, I'm new to this forum, hope I will be able to get some answers on this forum. I'm wotking on maintanance for machines under productiona and I would like to conect one machine to my work PC. But when I try to setup conection with RSLinx, RSLinx don't see my PLC. Problem is that my PC is on network with IP addresses 192.168.8.XXX and machine is on IP address and between is cisco RV180 routher which is set to have LAN address (company network), and WAN is set as (subnet, gateway, dns When I conect directly 1756 ENBT/A card to my laptop (laptop is set to same range of IP addresses) I can see PLC and everything is working but this way is not practical for me. Is there any way to conect my office PC to PLC, some settings in RSLinx Clasic? Any idea would be helpful. I attached simplified network drawing for easyer understanding. network.pdf Thank you for your time and help, best regards, baric1007
  9. Keyenece , read PLC KV40

Anyone know how to read a program of KV 40 with protection MEMSW $ 8,000. It's an old ladder diagram I want to retrieve. I've seen this link which talks Pseudo reading it. Link Thanks, Ágora
  10. I am trying to setup communication between an EIP21 and a AB Compactlogix processor. Setup both units with Network configurator and Logix5000. In Logix5000 I used the Generic Ethernet Module with the correct consumer and producer tags and instances. When I go online Logix can see the EIP and bring up the module information but the connection itself is in Error 16#0114 Electronic keying Error. Unfortunately cannot find a way to disable keying like possible on the Controllogix Ethernet module. Can Anyone help. An application example or some tips how to resolve it would be great. Kind Regards Rolf
  11. change port setting

Hi, I have PLC slc500 /3, connected with panelview 550 DH485 I have to replace the panel view by another available one which is different in part number my old one is 2711-B5A2 the new is 27711-B5A5 communication port for the new is 9 pin RS232 (DH485) when i read manual for panel view it mentioned that if i want just point to point (it is my case) i can change port configuration for the lower port of PLC to be DH485 and use cable 9 pin from 2 side first I don't know how to change port setting, if i change it how i connect to modify or troubleshoot the plc later? could i make a cable form the above port (RJ45) of PLC which is used for old panel and configured to DH485 to the new port 9 pin RS232? why when i order a panel view should mention the "ser" by the way it is Ser H??? When I try to buy new one , I didn’t find Panel view (obsolete ) gust find panel plus is it direct replacement for panel view or I need to rebuild the application program from beginning?
  12. Hi all, While upgrading HMI from PanelBuilder32 to FactoryTalk View I encounter a problem using I/O to interface with a PanelView Plus. The communication is defined in RSLogix 5 program as Rack 3 group 2 Size 3/4, range 32-37. PLC communication with the panel is not changed, but buttons in old PanelView using I:34 and I:35 work, in the new PV+ they don't, all bits remain zero. Block transfers Read and Write are all sending data to rack 3 group 2 module 0. While testing I noticed O:32 is used as status bits by the Block Transfers - maybe inputs I:34 and I:35 are also used for somethings similar by a new PanelView Plus? Thanks!
  13. Ken Roach already answered this question for MicroLogix 1200, I'm trying to find the same answer for MicroLogix 1000. DF1 half-duplex communication gets dropped with MicroLogix 1000 slaves. I monitored the data, and found the slaves stop sending ACK, and the master stops sending ENQ. Slaves still send valid responses, but these responses are ignored by master because the ACK is not present. Power cycle solves the problem, but that's a hassle to drive out to remote sites. Power cycle to master sometimes solves the problem, but not always. Messages are initiated by the master, not by the slaves. Rockwell support said the only solution is to cycle power. Ken's approach was to monitor CS0:17, if it changes issue an ACL command. See previous topic: Thank you!
  14. I am trying to upload from Panel View Plus 600 to my laptop using Factory Talk View ME via Ethernet. The RSLinx Enterprise does see the Panel View but when I hit the upload button I get the following error message: "The source selected is not a valid device. Please select a valid source and try again." Does anyone know what is the issue? I am attaching screen shot to visualize what is happening.
  15. I hope no-one minds that I'm cross posting this from the RA forums, I just wanted to get as much visibility as possible since there doesn't seem to be anything on the net about this. Any issue, let me know, or feel free to delete it. I'm trying to use a startup macro in my manual mode HMI application to copy the current state of my outputs to the inputs so the machine does not move or change state when switching between auto and manual modes. However, when I run the application on my PanelView Plus400 HMI, I'm immediately greeted with errors like "<macro expression>: Unable to read the expression""Read from <tag> failed"Some info: This only occurs for lines that set a tag's value to another's; if I set the tag to just a numeric value (like in the first line of the sample below), its executes just fine. There are two separate HMI applications. One is for normal / automatic operation. This one is to allow the operator to manually activate individual solenoids on the machine to aid with building, setup, and troubleshooting; it is not seen nor used in production. This occurs long after the plc has booted (manual mode is not the startup application) - so running anything on first-scan is not an option - and the HMI has no trouble communicating to these tags during operation. They are RSLinx Enterprise tags, I think - not HMI tags; they only exist in the controller / ladder. I'm able to successfully browse to them online in FTView. The expression editor reports the "tag = tag" syntax is valid.Lastly, I'm using FT View v7, but I'm creating v5.10 runtime applications. Here is an excerpt of the macro: {[Gage]MANUAL.MODE_ON} = 1;{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_ESC_CLAMP_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_ESC_CLAMP_EXT_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_MOV_CLAMP_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_MOV_CLAMP_EXT_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_PROBE_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_PART_PROBE_EXT_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_ROTATE} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_ROT_180_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_SLIDE_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_SLIDE_EXT_SOL};... and so on...FTView IS able to successfully execute the macro when I test it on the development computer while it is connected to the PV+ over ethernet. If the PV+ is not connected, or the application is running solo on the PV+, no dice / same errors. I have also tried using HMI tags in all combinations in the tag and expression by tying the RSLinx tag to an HMI tag. So far, they've had the same results as above. Absolute worst case, I could edit the ladder to latches or unlatches the inputs off of a one shot from the manual mode on bit, but it would require 7 manual program changes across many in-production machines and would be very time consuming. I've searched everywhere, and the manual's not been any help - maybe I don't know what to look for. Thanks for your time everyone, ~Anthony
