  1. Hello guys, I am new to this forum and have some problems with my PowerFlex755 EENET frequency inverter. I want to do a point to point positioning task but my problem before I can have a look at the point to point positioning is, that the inverter is always running with 5Hz as soon as I give the start command. Even if I write 0.0 to the reference the output frequency is about 5 Hz. When I change my reference speed to 10.0Hz the output frequency is 12.X (see attached screenshots). . I thought that maybe a min frequency of 5Hz was set somehow, but I couldn't find a parameter and that wouldn't explain why I have 12.X Hz as the output frequency with a setpoint of 10Hz. And an other question, have someone experience with positining tasks with a PowerFlex755 and Point to Point positioning? I think in the first step it is not working because of the problem I described above, but maybe someone have a programming example or could tell me where I can find some information about how to use the Point to Point positioning?   Thank you for advice!  Matthis Josewski
  2. Hi everyone, I have a question for you all, Is possible to configure CJ2M-CPU11 with tags trough network configurator to connect Control Logix PLC using EthernetIP? I did a configuration with CJ2M-CPU31 and Control Logix PLC with no problem, but now I need to communicate CJ2M-CPU11 with Control Logix PLC using EthernetIP. Some of you did this configuration between this two PLC before? Regards!
  3.  I've been debating whether to stay at my current employer who uses Emerson PAC software, vs going back to a similar company that uses Rockwell (compact/control logix) mainly because A-B is used by most companies around here. I work as a technical temp, usually 12 month contract jobs. Learning the Emerson PAC (aka Prophecy) seems to be a waste of time, since I am not aware of any companies that use it, other than my current employer. My placement company is pushing back, but I know I am correct. I do not have hard numbers, but I've been around the industry for 20+ yers, and have only seen 1 company use Emerson.   Does any one agree or disagree, or have some circumstantial evidence of the actual market share of A-B vs Emerson. I am mainly working in the Auto industry, in Michigan. Just looking at this site, there are 3200 postings for GE and Emerson combined, vs 58,000 postings for A-B.
  4. Been seeing a high failure rate on these PLC's on 2 of our processes. The control power is feed through a APC UPS to a 24VDC power supply to power the unit. Getting a hard fault where the OK LED comes on red and stays red. It never sequences through all the LED on power up. Tried the hard boot by holding in the reset button and applying power. Has anyone on else seen a high failure rate on this model PLC? TIA..
  5. Hi guys, So I want to divide two D value and comparing the result to setpoint and trigger alarm accordingly. Most the time, the result of the division will come out with decimal point. I am not familiar how to deal with decimal, floating, integer, etc before this.  I try to do as below, actual result is 1.666.  D8100 - 1 , D81001 - 6 How do I properly put decimal value in D and to show in HMI? Thanks!
  6. Hi, I need help finding the length of a string.  I am using an In-sight 9000 series camera with a compact logix 5380 and communicating over ethernet. Unfortunately, the string length is not provided in the AOP, and the barcode length will constantly change. I told to use the FSC instruction, but I cannot get it to work. Thanks
  7. I have a old  PannelView 550 that have lost the screen so i would like to hear if there is any possibilety to get it  working using a PannelView 800 7" and logix 5555. I only have serial rs 232 in the plc.   Thank you in advance. Peter Jensen

  10. Hi guys I have an control logix plc im looking for a module which is the same as 1769-ascii module. I know that module is for compact logix. Unfortunately i didnt find a good one for that purpose.  Anybody can help with that ? Thanks ahead.
  11. VHSC5/C

Hey all. Wondering if anyone has an example program they'd be willing to share? Specifically I'm using the 1734-VHSC5/C with a 1769-L18ER-BB1B PLC. All of Rockwell's wonderful information only refers to SLC-500 platform. I'm not trying to do anything terribly fancy, just have a quadrature encoder attached to Channels A & B, then using an output to turn on a valve at 8.0" and turn off at 10.0" Any help would be appreciated.
  12. How long  could be INT array. For example can I build INT[365] or DINT[365]? When I use more than [32] my controller fails. Thanks.
  13. Dear Experts In our plant, we have only one Allen Bradley PLC (Compact Logix L24ER) in one of our testing machines. We need to check online reason for error :LH Motor Negative overtravel Please let us know if it is possible to get communicating software RS Logix 5000 for trial Regards
  14. Dear Colleagues,   I require some help with regards to setting up virtual machines, We have some ControlLogix 1756 PLCs scattered around site running on different version (v20, v21 & v32). My company requires all software installations on company computers to go through IT. Installing all these versions on single PC is really a pain (going through IT)  for new hires and for new PCs. I am trying to suggest using virtual machines for each version that can be shared/distributed among the engineers and also to give engineers some autonomy in the VM environment.    How do I go about this especially with respect to licensing without violating the terms of use both the operating system and the automation software?
  15. Ran into this unique little "bug" today. Tag Variable is INT , Tag Output is REAL  Using CPT Instruction  (Variable / 2000) * 700 results in an output of Zero (0.0). Using CPT Instruction (700.0/2000.0)*Variable results in a non-zero Real Number (350.0 for example if Variable = 1000) Turns out reading the help, that CPT does math in the type of the first variable encountered and then converts to the destination type. Thus 1000/2000 in Integer Math = 0 and 0 times 700 equals 0 which converts to 0.0 Sharing just cause I'd never hit this "bug" before.
  16. CJ1M con CJ1W-EIP21 a ControlLogix

Hello I am trying to communicate a CJ1M with a CJ1W-EIP21 Card, with a Logix Control, but I have not been successful, what I am looking for is to read data, from the OMRON and see it in the Logix Control, but I have not been able to establish communication, I am looking for someone You will already have a functional example, with the backups of both PLC'S, to be able to observe how they made the configuration. Thank you for your support Greetings
  17. Hey guys, I did a quick search here and didn't come up with anything, so hoping I'm not asking something that has already been answered. I'm looking at automating an existing plant which currently has zero controls, so starting from scratch. The process isn't complicated but the equipment is a bit spread out over a two story facility. We're thinking about using a CompactLogix 1769-L32, physically located as central as possible, with ten four-slot 1734 Point I/O blocks. My concern is that many Allen Bradley controllers limit the number of I/O modules you can add to the project. Like some 1756 controllers are limited to 30 local and remote I/O modules, CompactLogix controllers may be limited to 16 local and who knows how many remotes, etc. I can't find anything that spells it out explicitly in the Design Considerations Manual. The CompactLogix 5370 User Manual only says it supports, "a limited number of Point I/O modules that can be used as local modules". Nothing about networked modules. The CompactLogix Selection Guide clearly defines the number of network nodes, but nothing about the number of modules. Does anyone have any direct experience with this much Point I/O in a CompactLogix environment? I'm thinking that we're in an age of counting nodes, rather than modules but don't want to order the hardware without being 100% sure.
  18. I'm trying to send an int over TCP using a MSG Socket,  Compactlogix ==> Arduino Ethernet Shield I have set up TCP communication between two Arduino Uno's using Ethernet shield. I've set up the one as a server, the other as a client. server IP: 192.168.1.21 port 23. If the client is connected it reads incoming data as a byte or an array of bytes. The data between the two has been verified to work. I'm now trying to transition the communications between a compact logix-L32E. I'm looking to send a byte (or int being as there's no byte data type) from the Compactlogix to the Arduino using TCP. To my understanding I need to use a socket create, open, read/write, close. The manual to do this is vague as a step by step procedure. Does anyone have an example code for socket programming? I can open rs500, rs5000, and studio 5000 programs. If I can open a file to use as a reference I can translate it on my own. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
  19. I have a purchased Machine that came with a Siemens LOGO 8.FSR PLC (Smart Relay). Generally we use Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi. Anyway, we need to communicate data between the LOGO and an Allen Bradley Compact Logix.  I do not desire to add an additional network to the AB but as best i can tell the LOGO is exclusively Modbus TCP/IP. Has anyone come across a similar situation?  I look online and did find an  Anybus module that claims to be able to link them together.  Looking for anyone who has faced this challenge and succeeded, or failed.   Thanks
  20. Hello All, First time working with PLC. Get the hang of it from stuff I researched. Having an issue with an axis setup for a servo motor.  When I try to do an auto tune it gives me an error that axis is not configured.  Source: Config Fault    Condition: MotorDeviceCode- INvalid attribute      ACtion: Immediate Stop Fault Entry: Type 8, code 9 subcode: 1314 stopaction: 4 Statechange: 3   I was wondering what am I doing wrong? Any leads or source information I can use to solve this.
  21. Hi, got a mental block lol.  Got a machine we are modifying, currently got most of the code in place. Working on a fault routine now. This machine doesn't have an HMI or wide array of PL. Nothing major just a simple vision system check. Currently have 6 faults that will stop the cycle running. I'm wanting to have the beacon light (Red light) blink for the cause of the fault. For example: Scenario 1- Fault stop for bottle check NG:  (two) .5 sec blinks -  2 sec red light off -  (two) .5 sec blinks ..... repeat  Scenario 2- Fault stop for bottle check NG and reject sensor blocked:  (two) .5 sec blinks -2 sec red light off - (three) .5 sec blinks - 2 sec red light off....... repeat I have the code a few different ways but it looks "dirty". Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
  22. Hello  We have just purchased some equipment with a Control Logix 5561 (1756-L61/B Rev 13.40). The compact flash card is missing from the unit but the seller says the unit was running in his facility prior to shipping. Does the 5561 have internal memory where a program is stored? Is the Compact Flash used only for recipes and persistent data? Thank you
  23. I'm wanting to get upload the program from a CompactLogix L31 Controller.  I'm using a generic (non Allen Bradley) "C2G brand" usb -->rs232 cable coming directly off of my laptop because I don't have a serial port out.  The rs232 side of the C2G cable is a "pin out" or male end, and as you can see in the picture, the serial port at Channel 1 on the controller is also male.  I'm using a generic (non-Allen Bradley) null modem (female-->female) cable to complete the connection.  Ultimately, I'm not seeing the controller on linx.  But that's a result of me not being able to configure the driver.  When I try to auto configure this driver, Linx gives me an error saying, "Unable to verify settings due to a NAK!" btw, the rs232 cable going into channel 0 is for the HMI on the machine. A pv600 1. How do I get online and upload the program from the controller? 2. What does NAK mean?
  24. Convert time

Hello. this is my firs post is possible to convert the elapsed time of timer to real or int i need to make some math operation with the elapsed time thanks
  25. Hi Guys! I have a problem with array filling. I use rslogix 5000 software. I have to save the timestamp sometimes. I can save it with GET instruciton. Its a dint array which have 7 elements (year, month, day....and so on),  But my problem is I dont know, how can I solve that, they are in a bigger array. So like an array within the array. Idk it is possible ? I hope you know how I mean.  So I have 7 dint value in one array, and I want 1000 array for this. How can increase the position of the array number ?  Can anybody help me with that ?  Thank you in advance.
