  1. Just added a Keyence IV3 vision sensor to my NX1P2 system and have a little issue with the Tag Set / data structure. The Input and Output assemblies imported with the .eds file are an Input assembly of 101 with 394 byte size and an Output assembly of 242 with a 12 byte size. The problem I have is that the 101 Input assy size of 394 bytes does not allow me the OK/NG status of the vision tools from 17 to 64. I need an additional 6 bytes to access these bits in my data allocation table. My question is, Is it possible to modify this Input assy  to a larger size that is acceptable to the NX1 data structure. I tried just altering the size in my Ethernet IP connections tab and creating the corresponding tags in the data structure and it resolved and transferred OK but then would not allow my IV3 sensor to go online and communicate via Ethernet IP. How can I resolve this?
  2. Hey all, I am having some issues with a Keyence IV2 camera which has Ethernet/IP functionality.  To summarize briefly, it has been configured and reading the data into my PLC (NJ501) into a structure data type.  The issue I'm having is that I cannot control this on a bit level for triggering the camera, etc.  I was reading that a Union type is the way to go, but unfortunately, I stopped getting data into the PLC when setting it up that way.  According to the configuration guide for Rockwell and setting it up in the Network Configurator, I needed to go with the SINT type.  When registering the device, the 8-bit option was necessary since the Input/Output sizes needed to match.  This was predetermined by the EDS file for the IV2. I am stumped as to how to get the data to read into the Union Type, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -K
  3. QCPU to 2x kyence iv2

Hello all, we are using Q03UDECPU and via built-in ethernet port its connected to two IV2-G30. (through unmanaged switch) to establish connection we are using FB LQnUDEEthActive (hereinafter referred to as  FBLQ) two instances of FBLQ in two instaces of our FB which is responsible for creating messages that are then send via FBLQ Both keyence devices have different IPs, ports and connection number. Problem is that it is working flawlessly, except the time its not working :/ from time to time it simply doesnt trigger Keyence device. It looks so far like its independt of turning machine OFF/ON, also both keyence devices are used in different times (about 10-20seconds of difference) Im currently working on sime kind of internal diagnosis to see whats happening when its not working, but im just curious if there is something obvious we are missing? any help will be apreciated Thanks
  4. Hai. now I trying to make a test, which is want to convert HEX ASCII character into binary. #3131 (HEX ASCII) -->> 11 (binary) but it's not working, it's still not converted and still #3131 in DM20. I could not find the mistakes.
  5. Hi there,  I am considerably new with setting up E/IP on OMRON's NX1P2 PLC. I have been trying to connect a Keyence IV-G to my PLC with E/IP connection (because there's no analog I/O available) and struggling with getting a connection going between PLC and camera. I connect these two through an unmanaged network switch, which I believe doesn't need any further configuration. I have set tags on Built-in E/IP inside SYSMAC Studio, and when I monitor them it says "normally resolved". Unfortunately, it still has red dot which means connection is cannot be established. The error I'm getting is "Tag data link connection timeout". Maybe built-in E/Ip just doesnt work for this case? I have yet to try getting connected with Network Configurator, but have the feeling that it will just accomplish the same thing that I did with Built-in E/IP inside Sysmac Studio.
  6. CC-Link Help

Firstly I have almost no experience with CC-Link so bear with me. I have installed a Keyence IL-1000 laser sensor and have it connected to the DL-CL1 CC-Link module. The I/O currently used ends at station 33 so I connected to it and made the DL-CL1 Station 34. The I/O station designation is attached below. I would assume that the station I added (34) would be I/O range 880 to 89F right? As long as I use i/o within that range I'm ok? Attached is the Network Parameters, the remote register starts at D2000. How do you know which register to use? I am try to get the sensor information communicating with the PLC (GX Developer) Yaskawa PLC Software.pdf
  7. Has anyone used 2 Keyence PZ series or similar retroreflective sensors in parallel to detect on the closest distance of irregular shaped objects? It should work if my sensor-fu is correct, but in actual use, has anyone had experience with it, and are there any 'gotchas' to watch out for?

  9. Keyence Vision System and Mitsubishi

Has anyone used Mitsubishi FX5U and Keyence CV-X Vision System? May I use SLMP Communication? Manual talks about RS232C, but I don´t have the module
  10. I'm trying to make my first steps with a Keyence GPIO unit called KV-B8XTD connected to a KV-7500. I'm using the KV-Studio 10 for control. The only thing I want to do is to switch an output of the GPIO from low to high. I set the KV Studio to "Monitor", open the KV-B8TXD and set some outputs (see image) I would assume that OUT0, OUT2, OUT3, OUT6 and OUT7 on my B8XTD are showing +5V but they don't. All outputs stays at 0V. What is going wrong? Do I misinterpret the "I/O unit monitor" if I assume it is meant to be used for setting the output signals?   Uwe
  11. Anyone have experience with the Peak to Peak hold function on Keyence IL-1000 amplifier?  I have an IL-030 lase head running off it and I want to utilize the peak to peak hold function.   I connected the red wire from a generic 24VDC, 1A, power supply to the IL-1000 Pink/Purple (timing input wire) and the black wire from the power supply to IL-1000 Blue (0V).   I have a 24VDC, 5A, power supply connected to IL-1000 Brown (10-30V) and IL-1000 Blue (0V) to power the IL-1000.   What I thought might work is to plug the 24VDC, 1A power supply in and out of an outlet to trigger the timing input for the P-P hold (similar to an on/off button).  But it's not doing anything.   I am not an electrical guy.  Any tips here?  Thanks,
  12. Hi All. Was wondering if anyone has any ladder logic examples for controlling a Keyence CV-X vision system. There does not seem to be any examples listed on Keyence's website.  I have the CV-X connected to Logix via Ethernet/IP and it does respond to trigger commands. I am having some issues with changing programs in the CV-X controller via PLC control. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  13. All, I am using Keyence CV-X422A vision controller for my application. It is interfaced with Siemens S7-1500 PLC on PROFINET. I am able to communicate with Vision controller through PLC logic command and status IOs. There is some communication issue in updating the o/p values from Camera Controller. I have tried with & w/o Handshake Mode with these settings. The camera display shows the reject but camera never turns ON the NG Status o/p. I tried different things told by Keyence Tech support but none of them worked.  He told me to have you enable the “Result ACK Flag” in the bit allocation area and send  a signal to it. Then trigger it again with a no good part and see if that fixes the issue. I tried setting the “Result ACK Flag” to 1 after I get the “Command Complete Flag” for the trigger signal that I sent. Sometimes this works but still it is not reliable. Do I need to send only a pulse to “Result ACK Flag”? Anyone here has ever faced similar issue?  Thanks for your help. AP
  14. Trying to change out an old flakey Keyence KV-24R processor with a current KV-24DR.  The Ladder Builder software I need to upload the program form the old PLC has to run on an XP computer.  I was finally able to install a trial version of the software (after waiting a couple weeks for for access to an XP computer from the company IT department). The software ran the first time, but I had to restart my computer.  After restarting my computer, when I try to run the Ladder Builder software, I get "Illegal initialization data" and the software shuts down.  I have reinstalled the software a few times already.  I have left a message for Keyence, but they don't support their own products in America (they are sending my question to Japan.  Anybody have any ideas?   Sean

This is an example (with code) on how to cycle user messages on the Keyence KV-D20 display. The code is written as a sub-routine that is easily incorporated into a Keyence KV series PLC. The code is proven to work - I've used it many, many times. A brief rung-by-rung commentary explains the basic operation of the code.

  19. Keyence KV-40dt Program Access

I have a couple older Keyence KV-40dt that I need to modify the program on. The equipment designer is long gone, but I think the program is read protected. This is done using MEMSW $8000. Some of the programs are fairly complicated, so it is potentially worth some effort to get access.   I found this software program to backup the program: http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?/files/file/647-backup-tool-for-keyence-plc/ It is a demo version that allows downloading the program. However this demo version doesn't allow reloading that program. The company seems defunct and I can't find any valid contact info or a non demo version that allows reloading the program. In another post PLCutils mentions " Any person can read such "pseudo" protected program the same way as Ladder does it with 0x32, 0x00, command." However, I don't know how to write a program to the PLC.  The program downloads a .cod file. In a hex editor it looks all scrambled, but I was going to try to decipher how the MEMSW $8000 gets written and edit the hex. I need to be able to reload the .cod file for this to work. Does anyone have any ideas? I also saw that .cod files are read by the KV Incrediware software for dos. I don't know if this is the same .cod file format that I have, but I may try getting a copy of that.

  22. I need some help and advice communicating between an Omron PLC and a Keyence KV-5500. My system typically uses an Omron CJ2M-CPU34 which comes equipped with the built in Ethernet IP port.  My customer is insisting that we change the CPU in our system to a CJ2H-CPU66-EIP in order to communicate with the Keyence KV-5500.  They have not been able to detail why their communications require the CJ2H, they just say they will be using Ethernet TAG communication and for this they need us to change the CPU. Has anyone successfully established communicated between the Omron PLCs and the Keyence?  If so how did you do it and which CPU did you use?  Is there an .eds file available for the Keyence CPU? Please help!!! They will be visiting from halfway around the globe to test communications in January so I want to be prepared!
  23. I have camera Keyence connected via ethernet to the S7-1200. In the cameras can be set about 30 "tools". Each "tool" perform a different function in the image. In what way in the program code on S7-1200 I can read eg Tool number 10? For example, if tool 10 is the correct I want to to value 1 on some tag for eg camera_tool1. Thank you in advance for any help. Regards Mikołaj
