  3. I'm attempting to make a backup of a program, complete with comments. I go connect to the PLC over Ethernet, and select Use Upload File to merge the comments from an original copy of the program. After that, I go file-saveas to backup the program. However the new saved file, complete with comments is only 134 KB, and the very original copy of the program is 230 KB, from 2003. Is there a reason for this, the program hasn't shrunk in size, only minor tweaking of some span calibration numbers.
  4. MBE Driver can't save config file

Hello!I am using MBE Driver v7.46b on Windows Server 2012 R2. Problem is that I can't save config file. I can edit Channels, devices and data blocks, I can see incomming values, I save a file without any message. But config file is not saved. In Event viewer I get error as you can see on picture. It says: Error writing to system registry: Driver App 00000001 \Driver defaults. Other error says: Error writing to system registry: ServerMsg 00C54BB8 \Driver defaults. Is it server or driver problem? Please help. At the moment I can't edit anything in driver so I can't configure it to use it with my SCADA iFIX 5.8
  5. Hello folks,   I am a rookie, self-training in PLC programming. I have written an SFC exercise (attached ACD file). I also try to call STL written subroutines and add-on instructions, from within the SFC main program. Calling the created subroutine works fine, but calling the add-on instruction fails from a reason which is above my level. I tried, tried and tried different solutions, with no avail. I am either wrong in writing the add-on (perhaps some missing but missing tag ?), or wrong is calling it. Can someone please give me a hint on what I do wrong ?   Thank you, Radu PS . I use Studio 5000 v24, combined with RSLogix 5000 Emulator.     SFC_trial.ACD
  6. Hi All, I am doing an application that use servo motor to feed plastic film to a target length (set by operator), and it need to stop immediately if marker sensor is ON. This application is control by Omron CP1E PLC. It will feed plastic film in 500-1000mm/s depends on the target length set by operator. It is require to stop immediately if the servo feed length more than 90% of the target length and the marker sensor is ON. However, is there any possibility for the servo to stop immediately once the condition is meet? As I am using PLS2(887) to feed with target length, and INI(880) to stop immediately, however, it cannot get the desired result as servo not able to stop immediately after marker sensor is ON, I am not sure is because of the PLC scan time, or servo need time to deceleration (deceleration rate assigned to #FFFF). Appreciate anyone able to assist on this. Thank you.

  8. CID and ICD file creation. Hi, I have a system that is using a PowerLogic G3200 to convert Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1100 Modbus to IEC 61850, but I am lost when it comes to creating an ICD / CID file. Does anyone have any experience in doing this? I have no help from Schneider technical support, they say the G3200 is not supported. Thanks in advance. Steve
  9. We have Q06UDEHCPU PLC.   We require to attain 1k of file registers in standard Ram. Please find our settings attached - PLC Parameter.png; When we try to down the register file – we attain the following error; “Failed to access standard Ram” error message (attached - Downloading Error.png); The program is very small – and thus we have plenty of space as well.
  10. I am using TIA Portal V14 to program a Siemens Mobile HMI (KTP900 Mobile). I would like to pull up a program 'signature' from the HMI that would allow me to verify that the code in the HMI is the correct version.  This would help prevent an accidental overwrite of old code, resulting in a single Mobile HMI that has differing code from several others that are also in use. The closest comparison would be a Safety Signature from a Safety PLC.  However, I just want to use a file checksum or similar variable that I can put on my screen. Any ideas?  I appreciate it.

  14. Hi everybody. I'm just getting started with GX Works 3 and I feel a bit lost. If I have an external help file for my function blocks, how do I register this in the program? I can't find it anywhere when I double-click the fb library or in the e-manual Viewer. The file format is .CHM and I have imported this to GXW2 earlier.   /Niklas

  16. F-MPC04 RS-485 Protocol

Hello! Anyone here know about Fuji Electric power monitoring unit F-MPC04? Does anyone have the Communication Manual for this unit? I need to find the F-MPC Protocol which it used with RS-485. I know it is accessible via MODBUS RTU, but there is already a system exist using this F-MPC protocol. It seems Fuji doesn't publish this protocol for public, but there should be a document somewhere :D   If anyone knows please kindly reply here. Thank you
  17. I believe I have found a bug in FactoryTalk View ME version 8.10. I have a trend object that uses parameter file placeholders on the connections tab. These are direct-addressed to the shortcut ie {[PLC]...}. The historical data from the datalog does not show. (The pens write lines, but when I navigate away from the screen and come back, the lines are gone and begin drawing again from the right side.) The current data does show. This tells me that the placeholders are correct syntax. When the screen loads, the placeholders are being replaced by a string which yields a correct tag path, or else the pens would not be writing correct data. When I replace the placeholders manually and directly address the tag, the historical data does show correctly. This tells me that the datalog is set up correctly and is logging data. I have verified that a previous project of mine, using I believe version 6.0, successfully used this method of using one screen and one trend to plot various tags using parameter placeholders, and the historical data did show correctly.
  18. I would like to bring up a topic that I've been been bouncing around in my head for the past few months. I make a living as an industrial programmer, sequencing using PLCs, dealing with drives, networking, controlling heavy machinery. All the hardware we use are from established companies like Allen Bradly, Sick, Cognex, Delta, ABB, etc... big $$$, you pay for the software, pay for the hardware and pay for the support. It's not uncommon for a large control system to cost $50k+ (hardware only) By night I'm just your regular maker. Programming AVR series uC, ARM series, playing with various open source hardware Arduino, RPI, Teensy, 3D printers, designing PCBs, stepper motors... whatever I can get my hands on. Both worlds are the same... but completely different, and there is ZERO overlap. I'm interested in why other people think this is, I'm sure that makers don't get into the industrial stuff because the price point. I'm not going to pay 8k for a AB Logix rack... are you kidding me? but vice versa? is the lack of support really all that daunting? I find OS stuff to be way more powerful, understanding something from the bare metal is the most amazing feeling, and being able to modify it to your needs is even better. Digging into somethings source is without an argument the most flexible platform to build on, and knowing the board level schematic for a chuck of hardware opens up a world of opportunities... Then lies the ethical dilemma... If I was to profit off other people's work, does this make me a bad person? What if I push the changes back into the development (which frankly I have no problem doing) I would love to head other people's opinions...

  20. Hi guys, I recently was asked to configure a computer to host an Factory Talk SE Client application. I was able to get everything working except the trends and the Alarm window, all I have is the cross hatch screen. at the bottom of the screen it is saying cause: Trend: CAB file missing on the server: http://hmi1/RsviewActiveXControlSetup/RSTXView2ocx.CAB. I have worked on this for a while and am stumped. All the other computers on the same domain network are working fine, so it leads me to believe my problem is with my installation on the new computer. Any suggestions or if you need more input please let me know. Thanks
  21. .cin file question.

I'm fairly new to the world of automation so please excuse me if get my terms mixed up. I think I know the answer to this but its not quite clear in the manuals. I'm on a project that has about 9 CJ2H PLCs that we are doing a re-commisioning job. In each of the PLC files we have backup files and the program files. Some of the PLCs have .cin files for CX Integrator and some don't. Some of the files have routing tables as well. We are wondering if we are supposed to have a .cin file for each PLC and that this a must have file in order for the PLC to comunicate with other devices in the network? If each network is supposed to have one this means that we were not given those files from the original owners and then we need to create new ones. I'm thinking that its not a big deal and pretty easy to setup the network configuration. Anyone out there have any experience? Thanks
  22. Hello! I am creating a project with Logix Designer, version 24. In the project I am using 1734-AENTR/B devices in etherner/IP-bus. I find out that there is only old versions of Logix Designer, only Major version 3 and 4 but the device that I have is the version 5. So I downloaded this EDS-file from Rockwell support-pages and installed it with EDS HW tool. After this, I can not choose this device 1734-AENTR/B with Major version 5. How to get this installed version to the project? After installation I have reboot my programming device and there is not RS Linx running in my computer.
  23. Hi guys, I've found the following website: http://www.rockwellautomation.com/rockwellautomation_de/news/news-detail.page?reqid=1356918 It shows a download link for some reference material regarding Ethernet/IP communication drivers. I've been lucky with Mitsubishi and Siemens supporting TCP/IP, but for some reason this is just now starting to be supported by Rockwell, and many of the budget controllers do not yet support TCP/IP (at least without an interface module, and even then they are only compatible with certain processors). I would love to write my own Ethernet/IP driver for communicating with Rockwell controllers and I/O blocks. This looks like the perfect starting point as Rockwell claims to support it. I've got an email out to the representative listed in the article, and have talked to rockwell engineers over the phone, but do not yet have any leads. I thought I would post here in case anyone has used this, and could provide some information on where to get the reference material. I imagine there are many tinkerers on here who get excited by these things . I did notice this repository that looks close: https://github.com/EIPStackGroup/OpENer The library is called "OpENer", and the original expired download link in the rockwell press release is "Opener.Sourceforge", so maybe there is a correlation. Maybe this github library is the latest iteration of the project files released in 2009. (The github library looks very reliable, and professionally supported). Any leads on here would be greatly appreciated. If I can prove this concept to work, I will likely go further with odva certification. But for now this will be fun to reverse engineer and prove. Also, if I get any leads on this I will make sure to post back.
